Pours a nice clear dark yellow with a good off white head that laces the glass as you drink it. The smell is full of tropical fruits and a little bit of pine, but not much. The taste was a bit more understated than the smell with some hop characteristics coming through on the finish. Not very clean but it did have some tasty flavors.

Slightly hazed honey apricot colored with streams of fine bubbles quickly rising up. Heavy carbonation, big detraction. Had to take several minutes to pour this will waiting for the foam to settle. Aroma of floral hops and cinnamon, some mint notes.

Strong hops flavors, assertive bitterness, heavy pine and grapefruit rind flavors, tending a bit toward harsh. Some mild yeast notes in the background. Subtle malt notes of toffee and cinnamon, this is heavy handed hop bitterness. Even mouthfeel, moderate fullness, very tingly carbonation finish. Good beer, not great. Could use more depth of hops flavors and the carbonation is way too much.

Poured cold into a pilsner style glass this hoppy brew shows a light copper color, clear with a very stubborn finger thick stack of creamy white foam on top and substantial lacing. The aroma is a very pleasant pine / orange hop. Not over powering at all but obviously a solid IPA idea here. The flavor that follows is a more aggressive hop which seems to be perhaps a bit overdone. The bitterness is strong but that part is fine with me. The flavor is dominantly hop and that's where the over indulgence perhaps turns into a bit of soapiness that takes away a little bit, not spoiling it altogether at all, but it's notable to me. There's some hint of caramel and blood orange and maybe a wheat grain idea in there as well. Unfortunately the soapy quality does linger on the palette despite a reasonably tasty bitterness that you initially encounter. The body is medium light and the frothy carbonation gives this a foamy feel that is probably a bit much but alright for this style. Overall, I can tolerate the soapiness so generally I like it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it again.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Pours orange tinged amber with thick heavy foam. Pops up to a full inch before backing down. Malty nose. Strong pine punchy taste. Some grapefruit. Toffee sits in the back. Nice blend, peppery finish. Bites back. I like flavor blend. Another win.

A- Pours a light caramel brown color. Head was almost non-existent upon pouring.

S- Caramel malts, bready notes, slight floral hop aroma.

T- Caramel malts up front which transitions right into a bitter, floral hop taste. I get almost a garlicky/piney taste in there as well. Finishes very bitter and it lingers for a while after each sip.

M- Moderate carbonation, very light mouthfeel.

O- A decent offering from Charter Oak but definitely not my favorite from them. The strange bitterness doesn't do it for me. I'll stick with their pale ale.
