look: 4.5 | smell: 3.25 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 2.75 | overall: 3.25

Appearance:
Poured in a nonic pint glass reveals a slightly hazy golden straw color and a thick, bone white head. Head retention here is pretty impressive and carbonation levels are solid.

Aroma:
This one is pretty dull, but there are some traits worth pointing out. Clean and tart, ginger is the dominant spice here among nutmeg and pepper. Hints of light cloves and pepper are also present among notes of faint pumpkin flesh.

Taste:
Thankfully, most of what I like about the aroma carried over and well executed. Bitterness hits upfront briefly before a wave of ginger rushes in. Hints of nutmeg ride the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel:
Rather thin, watery body. Carbonation is light and the finish is surprisingly dry, but easy to drink.

Overall:
I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Not everything was exceptional, but few beers nail everything. Interesting flavors and aromas and easy to drink, the only real let down is the lackluster body. If you happen to be in Minnesota and see this one on shelves, grab it.

Golden amber pour with a wispy head that recedes to nothing, no lace. Smells of nutmeg and possibly allspice, caramel and a bit sweet too. Taste is nutmeg, slightly spicy like cinnamon, grain, lightly sweet. Highly carbonated. Medium light body. Clean and it swigs down well enough to make it fairly drinkable though not sure if I'd want to plow through more than 3-4. Pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice beers are some of my favorites but this one doesn't actually have any pumpkin, just the spices. It shows.

This is described as an Autumn Ale, and does not actually contain any pumpkin. It does have pumpkin spices however.

Aroma: Tannic and earthy. Hints of Cinnamon and Ginger. No hops. Almost no malt.

Appearance: Gold in color, lighter than most examples. Fine white head that fades fairly quickly. Slight haze.

Flavor: Not very sweet, in fact not much malt flavor at all. Ends very dry with a hint of spices. Ginger stronger in flavor than in aroma. Has a fairly notable astringent bite in the finish. Might have some hop bitterness. As it warms the astringent finish makes me not want to drink more, reminding me of soap.

Overall: Not balanced enough. It lacks body and complexity, more like a cream ale with a touch of spices. The astringency is overwhelming for such a light beer. I have yet to really like a beer from these guys, and this is no exception. I try not to be a hater, but after tasting 5 beers from a brewery and not finding any of them pleasant to drink, I tend to give up.

Jack'd up pours an amber color with a small lacing head. There is an aroma full of nutmeg and is a bit earthy. The taste has a nice mellow nutmeg and cinnamon flavor, with hints of allspice. Good noticeable flavors, good body. Overall its a nice drinking beer, a pumpkin ale minus the actual pumpkin flavors.

12 ounce bottle poured into a shaker pint. Hazy bright orange with a finger of bubbly white head with decent retention and lacing.

Aroma is, of course, spicy. Nutmeg, allspice, clove, cinnamon. Biscuity malt and somewhat of a gingerbread aroma as well as, surprisingly, vanilla. Light roasted malts as it warms.

Flavor is mostly cinnamon and ginger. Far more ginger than the nose, actually. Slightly doughy in the back.

Medium-bodied and moderately carbonated. Very clean mouthfeel.

Overall, this one smells great, but the flavor is pretty boring and one-dimensional. Too bad, Third Street is a solid brewery.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass. Bottling date of 08/07/13.

Appearance: Pours a somewhat cloudy copper golden orange with a lot of rising bubbles. Huge four finger off white head with good retention. Leaves a lot of lacing clinging to the glass.

Smell: A spicy malt driven aroma with lots of fall spice hints and caramel malt. Upfront scent of spices including hints of cinnamon, allspice, ginger, nutmeg, pepper, and slight clove. Hints of pumpkin and slight vanilla and cream. Sweet toasty malts with hints of caramel, toffee, biscuit, grains, and yeast. A nice malty fall spice aroma.

Taste: Like the scent hints, a fall spice forward taste with sweet bready caramel malt notes. Fall spices upfront with notes of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, clove, and pepper. Vegetal notes of pumpkin. Slight note of creamy vanilla. Toasty bready malts with notes of sweet caramel, toffee, biscuit, grains, cracker, and yeast. Hops are very light. A nice spice forward malty taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy and very smooth.

Overall: A pretty decent fall brew. Nice presence of spice and sweet malt.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Nonic pint.

Appearance: Cloudy orange with initial strong head that quickly disappears.

Smell: Mostly spices, such as ginger, cinnamon and maybe allspice.

Taste: Weak Amber Ale that has been spiced to death. Cinnamon, ginger and something I can't put my finger on, but there is a lot of it.

Feel: Moderate carbonation, medium body. The finish is grainy and it feels like spices are left rolling around in my mouth.

Overall: While drinkable and nothing is truly offensive, this is an over spiced but other bland beer. Whether true or not, it doesn't taste or feel like they used fresh spices, but instead opened their spice drawer and poured a bunch in.

I had this on at the Crooked Pint in Minneapolis. Served in an imperial style but not sized pint glass, the beer is copper with a slight chill haze.

Malts and spices on the nose. It is pretty much what you expect.

Beer leads with the pumpkin spice backed with malts and a bit of overripe apple. Surprisingly sweet at mid-glass.

Mouth is fine and workable.

Not bad but not an overly memorable fall offering, kind of like the Vikings....
