On-tap at One Trick Pony. Served in a snifter.

A - Thin, off-white foam settles to a thin collar. Opaque, very dark brown, body.

S - Loads of bourbon, spicy oak, vanilla, touch of coconut, dark chocolate, molasses, anise, some caramel. A tad boozy, but not excessively so. I believe this batch was 10.7%.

T - Taste is quite similar, with bourbon, oak, raisins and dates, dark chocolate, caramel and toffee, and vanilla. More mellow than the aroma, and quite easy to drink.

M - A tad thin for the ABV - decidedly medium in body. Low carbonation, smooth texture, not overly oaky or dry, and fairly clean in the finish. Not much alcohol warmth here; far less than suggest by the aroma.

D - Good stuff. Not a Bourbon Barrel 4th Dementia killer by any stretch, but a nice local beer in the same vein. The aroma was a tad hot, but otherwise this was quite easy to drink for the ABV and the style. Would happily have purchased a growler if they would have let me.

New brewery in the industrial part on Lansing, about 10 beers on tap including a barrel aged old ale.

apperance: dark brown

smell: carmel, bourbon

taste: carmel, bourbon

mouthful: sticky thick

overall: a very good barrel aged old ale only served at the brewery, would have bought a growler if they would have let me.

Shared by leftyhyzer at a NWI tasting

A - Dark brown with light chocolate accents. No head. Light carbonation on the sides

S - This is a good strong nose that has a good booziness to it from the bourbon mixed with caramel, vanilla, and light marshmallow.

T - Chocolate up front with light vanilla and marshmallows. As the beer moves on, the bourbon comes through that gives this a warming presence and strong oak that continue throughout. This beer has some good complexity and a nice balance between bourbon and sweeter vanilla, marshmallow and caramel.

MF - Medium body with slight stickiness to it. Good warming presence on the back end

O - This is a really good barrel aged beer that has a great barrel presence. It is also well balanced between the sweetness and the barrel. It also reminded me slightly of a lighter Brandy Vanilla DL and a bit like BA 4D. Great beer from a newer brewery
