On-Tap at Mellow Mushroom in Franklin...
Appearance: Amber, small head, clear, decent lacing
Smell: spice and big piney hop smell
Taste: Extremely hoppy taste, not too much malt or rye detected.
Mouthfeel: Medium thickness, light carbonation
Overall: Tasty hoppy beer, glad to try out the new local brewery.

Had on tap at Old Chicago in Murfreesboro.Poured into a standard pint glass a slight chill hazed amber with a thinner white head atop.Aromas of piney hops and some faint lactic sharpness, the flavors were much bolder than the aromas with a good shot of pine resin from the hops and spice from the rye. There is just enough malty sweetness to balance the bolder hop and rye flavors.A really well made hoppy rye from this newer TN. brewer.

Poured from tap into pint at 12south in nashville. Pours a seethrough almost orange color with nice foam. Piney citrus and sharp hop aroma...smells pretty nice. Lots of sharp hop flavor, but is mellowed by the pine and candy like hop. Bitter rye flavor is subtle but obvious...
Nice brew all around...id like to try more from Turtle anarchy.

Reviewed at Broadway Brewhouse in Nashville, TN; full phone notes taken.
A- Clear red bodied pour from the tap to a pint glasd with a white head building to one finger. The cap has frothy texture and pretty good retention dying to a ring and cloud atop the brew. A huge sheet of lace at the top with drizzle and many spots below.
S- Hops are pronounced but there are a decent amount of grains to balance. Here the hops mostly come off as citrus and floral while the rye adds a distinct spicy sweet cracked grain note. Slight caramelized malt and bread.
T- Feels hoppier here than in the nose but just by a bit. Semi bitter grapefruit and orange zest with floral, pine, spicy, apricot and herbal notes as well. Grains a bit more reserved but rye spice, caramel sweets, toast and cereal grain notes provide plenty of balance. Yeast bread and slight fruit esters.
MF- Silky medium bodied with a creamy overall feel. Carbonation is medium high and quite smooth but some bite as well. The finish is moderately bitter.
Citrus hops with a fairly strong cracked rye malt balance. Solid and presents the rye correctly which is easier said than done.

Aroma is spicy as would be expected in a rye beer, with some pine notes....overall quite a hoppy nose.
Has a dark golden appearance in the glass with a small head. Clear, as expected.
Taste has a decent amount of rye spiciness but it isn't quite as pronounced as one may think. This beer has 60 IBUs, as I was told by the brewmaster, and they're certainly present without being overwhelming. I'd say bitterness is about on point, with a pine character to them...I didn't ask which hop varieties were used here. Nice, dry finish.
I could probably use more of a rye spiciness when having a rye beer, since it's really a distinct taste that I enjoy...but this is a solid IPA with just about the right amount of bitterness that could be a good fall back beer.

Pours caramel browm with an amber hue and a big foamy khaki head. Aroma offers spice peppery spice, bread, citrus rind, and a little floral. Flavor follows suit with a piney bitterness also present. A creamy, medium bodied and active mouthfeel. Overall, nothing earthbreaking but a very solid and enjoyable rye ipa. If I had my growler on hand, I would have gone home with it filled with some of this.
