A - Pours a ruby red with a fizzy tan head that is gone fast.

S - Ripe dark fruits. Not much else.

T - Sweet cola, cherry, oak barrel.

D - Lower carbonation with a lighter body.

O - Ave, at least. Barrel really didn't add much to this one.

I'd tried the regular (non-Banished) DoubleCross a few times, and not been horribly impressed, so I was a bit hesitant to spend the $17 for a 375ml bottle of this.

I had a few glasses of this at the tasting room, as well as bottled. The bottles are sealed up like a little tanks. They're waxed, capped, *and* corked. I'd never encountered a cork inside a cap before, so make sure to have a corkscrew ready!

It pours a deep amber, and what head it has dissipates quickly. The Pinot barrels dominate the taste profile, giving it a deep, complicated, fruity profile. The non-Banished version is like a blank canvas where this is the masterpiece laid down on top. This beer is all about the barrel-aging, and not about the hops, so hop-heads should probably look elsewhere.

You may prefer to let it warm up a bit from fridge temperature before drinking as it will bring out a different set of flavors and smells.
