Sampled during the recent Sasquatch fest. Wasn't a big fan of the pils they were pouring, but this stuff was great.

The beer pours a very dark brown color with good head retention and considerable lacing. The nose is quite attractive, as I pick up dark fruits, a hint of prune, chocolate, vanilla and underlying spice. The flavor profile replicated the nose in this fairly sweet dark ale, and mouthfeel is soft and fairly full. Alcohol was well integrated into the flavor profile, though you could tell it was up there a bit. Still, I would not have guess this was a 10% abv. beer if I hadn't been told.

Really an impressive effort from this new to me brewery.

On draught at Bailey's, DoubleCross is mahogeny with a small, big-bubbled off-white collar that leaves

Smell is fruity, dark crued fruits, prune, some rum-raisin. Some gingerbread spice.

Taste is deep dark fruits and malts, yet there is an elgegant litheness to it. Smooth, nice depth.

Mouthfeel is light, digestible. A touch stichy, and drying from the ABV.

Drinkability is very good, this is well executed, smooth and flavorful.

on-tap @ baileys

Opted for the 10oz pour, rather than the offered 20oz pour (yikes). Served in a mini-nonic. Dark mahogany body - aromas of dark fruit, wood, booze. A nice radiating sweetness, rich chocolate malts. First offering from Crux was a pretty impressive BSDA

Poured into a Gavroche tulip. Pours a dark reddish amber with a half finger khaki head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, dark stone fruit, moderately estery, a touch of alcohol. Flavor starts with sweet dark fruit, caramel malt, clove then develops an herbal bitterness with residual dark fruits and moderate boozy element. Medium bodied with peppery carbonation. The initial impression is very sweet, but the developing bitter herbal element tends to cover and complement the sweetness. A somewhat idiosyncratic take on a Belgian strong dark, but I rather enjoyed it. The finishing booziness is a bit of a negative, but there are plenty of strong flavors here to support it.
