Notes/Commercial Description:
Debuted at an event that crowned our hometown "Dog Town USA," this light-hearted ale bounds with regional Citra, Centennial and Crystal hops for those citrusy notes beloved by Northwest hop hounds. We've nudged the malt bill in the other direction, for a sessionable ale that's easy to love.

Poured from 500mL bottle into a tulip. Independent of the beer itself -- I love Crux's cutaway windrose logo on the label. Some of the most creative packaging I've seen.

Appearance: light golden hue with a little touch of haze and a very light effervescence. Head is a thin finger of frothy white foam. Not exactly an IPA look, but for a session ale not too bad.

Smell: fruity hops with a grapefruit and tangerine character over a light malt base. Pretty good for a session IPA, both in strength and composition.

Taste: quite a lot like the aroma, but with a nice underlying sweetness. While the aroma was a piquant, herbal grapefruit/tangerine, the flavor is more of a candied citrus. Frankly, I quite like it.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a good carbonation and a halfway decent creaminess. I dig it, especially for a session brew.

Overall: I'm pretty impressed with Crux's take on a session IPA. It's a hard style to nail, and I think Crux has done a better job than a lot of other breweries at putting this type of thing together.

500mL into a tulip. Pours a crystal clear honey color w/ a nice frothy white head, patchy lace.

Aroma is nice pleasant citrusy NW hops and an underlying malt sweetness.

Taste is likewise a balance of spicy, bitter hops and pale biscuity malt. Light and refreshing with a crisp finish.

Mouthfeel is a bit light in the body, as would be expected for a 4.5% session ale. The upside of this is how clean and drinkable this beer is.

Overall a really nice drinkable session ale. It didn't knock my socks off, but then it's not supposed to. Very enjoyable for what it is.

Poured into a Dogfish Head pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with some coppery notes and a two finger white head with good retention and lots of lacing. Light, but pleasant aroma of biscuit malt, citrus hops and light fruit. Flavor is a great blend of biscuit and caramel malt, grassy and citrus hops, tropical fruit and citrus, finishing with grassy hop bitterness with a touch of lemon citrus. Medium bodied. Relatively light flavored for an IPA, but considering the mild ABV, remarkably balanced and tasty. I'm not a big fan of the session IPA style, but this is very nicely done, and I'd get it again any time.

(Served in a Nonic)

A- This beer pours a touch of haze to an aged copper body that has a nice swirl of microcarbonation rising to the surface. There is a thin sticky film of snow white foam that sticks in sheets to the glass with each sip.

S- The full aromatic green floral hops come through as soon as the beer is sat infront of me. There is a pine resin character that finishes the aroma with hints of a slight musty pale malt note that grows as the beer opens. This beer makes me want to just sit an smell it all day.

T- The rich pine resin hops blends with some unripe fruit hops and a mix of pale malt and cracker malt in the finish. This finish is a bit dry with some papery green hop flavors lingering. The pine resin flavor hangs on the tongue but there is no bitterness to it.

M- The medium-light mouthfeel has a gentle fizz in the finish.

O- This beer is a full of great hop character with enough depth to keep it interesting but also staying light enough to make a great session beer.

16.9 oz bottle, bottled on 2/4/14. Pours hazy golden orange with a big frothy white head that retains well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is biscuity malts with some orange and tropical fruit and some resiny hops. Oddly, it's a bit salty too.

The flavor is sweet bready caramel malts with some tropical fruit and a decent grassy, resiny hop finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little watery.

Overall, a solid session IPA.

Sampled as part of a blind tasting flight of session IPAs. Slightly funky nose of sweet tropical fruit. Palate is balanced between sweet malt and bitter, citrusy hops. Body is a little thin, yet also creamy. Lightly sweet note of biscuity malt on the finish.
