Our twist on a classic Irish stout. Dry and smooth, this very sessionable stout comes in at 4.0% alcohol content. Our subtle addition is a touch of peat smoked malted barley. Smoked over a peat-fueled fire, this malt adds a layer of smokiness to the more traditional dark malt flavors. A taste of that smokiness is complimented with a smooth roasted finish. Slainte!

This was the second of 2 biers I tried on 01DEC12. Standard shaker pint for $5.00.

Poured a dense, opaque black hue. Head was fine and thin, light tan in color, with ok lacing. Aroma was restrained, with roastiness present. Body was close to medium, yet still a touch on the thin side, though it felt ok going down.

Possessed lots of bitter roasty notes, with choco and coffee, plus a hint of espresso. The peat aspect was subtle yet still noticeable. Finished on the dry side, with more bitter qualities. Not bad... Prosit!!

Had on tap at the brewery...6th weekend they were open. I tried the saison, their IPA, and their stout. The stout was above average, assuming you like this style. Overall, this new brewery is doing good work on some styles you won't find at other trendy (crappy) brewpubs. This is a real smoked stout and reminded me of Alaska Brewing's classic. Smoke and peet comes through but is balanced with the toasted malts and hops. Not a beer you can have a lot of maybe, but good flavor and would go great with food. Sessionable in alcohol content only. Nice job. (556 characters)

LOOK: Nearly pitch black, healthy tan head,

SMELL: Firm smokiness, charred wood, dark chocolate, mild dark fruitiness, clean

TASTE: Dry body, bit of creaminess, very smooth, blanket of smoke, waves of charcoal, moderate hopping, yeast, nutty grain, bready, burnt toast, long smoky linger, very dry finish

A beer this small it could have easily been devastated with a slight overuse of smoked malt, great restraint here. All business with the smoke though yet the Irish side does not waver at all. Super drinkable with a bonus of smoke, what is not to like here?

Had this at JFK airport, a pleasant surprise. Dry and smooth, very sessionable but it had thin mouthfeel sadly. Subtle addition is a touch of peat smoked malted barley. Smoked over a peat-fueled fire, this malt adds a layer of smokiness to the more traditional dark malt flavors. On tap at the brewery. Pours a rich black with a finger of frothy tan head that falls slowly and leaves attractive lacing. Looks like a traditional Irish dry stout. Moderate peat smoke in the nose, roast malt, some bitter chocolate notes. Aroma right on for style.

Quite tasty; has good balance between roasted malt and bittersweet chocolate flavors; very faint bitter hops; restrained earthy smoked peat. Not a smoked sausage-bomb by any means. Finishes quite dryly.

Medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation and a very smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Extremely easy drinking; quite sessionable. An exceptionally well-made example of this style. (650 characters)

Very solid stout from the brewery tap room. Dark and rich flavor and appearance, though not leaning in the coffee direction you find in a lot of the craft stouts. Peat adds a unique flavor that blends well and is nice on the nose. Thick like an Irish stout's supposed to be. Very good with some steak and potatoes.

It also has a low ABV, like many of the more widespread Irish stouts do.

Overall, a very good take on the classic Irish stout that stays true to the category but adds a unique (but not *too* unique) twist. (523 characters)

On draft at The Ginger Man, NYC.

Poured a deep brown hue with a one finger foamy tan head. There was good retention and sticky lacing.

The smell featured soft roasted malts and a heavy earthy sweet smoke.

The taste consisted of roasted malts, charcoal and an earthy smokiness.

The mouthfeel was silky and soft.

Overall a delicious and delicately smoky dry stout. (372 characters)
