In a snifter the beer was black in color with just a rim of head.

Roasted malt aroma. Cream. Fairly boozy.

Milk chocolate/dark chocolate. A little coffee. Booze.

A rich stout. Very boozy, but enjoyable. I didn't think the alcohol was too intrusive, it seemed to enhance the taste.

22oz bottle from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 10.99. Bottled 04/10/13. Served in a Terrapin snifter.

Pours deep dark chocolate brown with a finger and a half of mocha head that fades quickly and leaves small blotches of lace.

Smells of sweet cream, cocoa and roast.

Strong yet smooth layers of chocolate with plenty of lactose sweetness. Cream, roasty malts, light coffee, caramel, dark fruit skins, brown sugar and a wisp of booze. A nice blend of classic milk stout flavors with chocolate and well integrated/ hidden alcohol.

A smooth, creamy medium full feel with low carbonation. Long aftertaste of cocoa and lactose.

I continue to enjoy the various offerings from this relatively new contract brewer. They have nice takes on classic styles in bold, flavorful brews. This is a great imperial milk stout with pleasent notes of cocoa. Well worth a shot for fans of the style.

Really near black, with just a glint of amber around the edges. A decent light beige head in the tall Petrus tulip. Quite finely carbonated on the tongue.

Rather sweet and reminds me of chocolate milk, maybe dosed with vodka. Rich but not unctuous. Mouthfilling flavor with lots of dark roasted malt, and just a touch of the charred flavors. Elegant yet robust with all the dark grainy taste. It has that Milk Stout silky feel with a little more of the hoppy bitterness. Nicely balanced overall and seriously drinkable, though it wants to be savored slowly.

This is really a tremendous big stout, and nice to see a different angle on the usual RIS and strong stouts. The alcohol seems perfectly integrated. One of the best stouts ever, on my list. From the 750 ml Belgian-style bottle purchased at Bottleworks in San Diego.

poured from a 22oz bomber into a tulip glass.

A: Pours as black as night with a small layer of quickly vanishing foam.

S: Has a weird smell. I smell rasins, malts, and what reminds me of roast chicken.

T: Outstanding, a malty surprise that is easily drinkable. Roasted malts, carmel, and some dates.

M: The taste does not linger which sends me back for another taste. Slippery with no acid and no alcohol burn.

O: Excellent, a very solid brew. This is my first sweet stout and I am impressed. The only quandary is that smell that reminds me of roast chicken.

Big, boozy, smooth, milky. First thoughts immediately. 22oz bomber poured into enlarged tulip. deep black color with coffee colored head. Smell is sweet and strong at the same time. Mouthfeel is clean and smooth, the lactose comes thru in a welcome, inviting way, makes me want to drink more. Taste is on point, you know you're drinking a big bad high alcohol beer, but semi sweet chocolate, sugar and roasted malts still come through and they smooth out the initial harshness. Overall very well done and something i would pick up again

A - Pours pitch black with a tan head. About what I expected from a stout.

S - Coffee and dark chocolate dominate along with roasted malts and a sweet flavor.

T - Getting a lot of coffee, followed by a big roasted malt bill and a dark chocolate finish. After the flavors wear off, a sweeter element comes to the forefront.

M - Medium bodied and carbonation. Very smooth.

O - Usually I avoid milk stouts, but an IMPERIAL milk stout like this delivers.
