I am now committed to reducing, if not eradicating, my backlog of bottles. This one was part of a local, in-person trade with tone77.

From the bottle: "On Draught[;]In Bottles".

A much better-behaved beer than the previous one! I got the aggro pour started, it set up a pseudo-cascade which then settled into two fingers of dense, tawny head with good retention. Color was a deep, golden-yellow (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity. Once more, my kitchen was co-inhabited by Midas, Mammon and Croesus who had shown up for a taste of mein gelt. Nose had an odd metallic quality along with a grassiness. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full. Taste was decently hoppy, slightly citrus bitter with a grapefruit tang, but muted by a grassy flavor that accompanied it. Finish was semi-dry and quite refreshing. I could see this as a gateway beer for people who are curious about hops but do not want to be immersed in them.

Pours a deep straw color with a chill haze. Small foam topping recedes to a light film on top.
Aroma of floral hops (cascade?) , some pine, citrus and sugary malt, perhaps extract?
In the taste, lemony citrus, lemon grass, leaf, a bit tart and pale malts backing up. Some bread, biscuit, and citrus makes up most the flavor. Not a whole lot going on but smooth and easily drinkable. Not a bad beer to take a sixer of to a party, but outside of that, its just an OK beer.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of floral hops, a touch of sweetness. Taste is mild, some hops up front, malts at thew finish. Not bad, but a bit bland for the style. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent brew but nothing special.

A-Clear orange, not much carbonation, two finger fluffy head.

S-Good deal of earthy hops, some dirt as well as some malt.

T-Rather malty, earthy, caramel, dirt, but not much in they way of hops, tad unbalanced as well.

M-Light, not much carbonation and watery.

O-Short story; too much malt not enough hops to balance it out.

22 oz bottle. Pours orange with short-lived, thin, fluffy, white head. Aroma is of caramel malt, bread crust and piney hops. Body is medium and crisp. Taste is of piney, herbal hops, biscuit and caramel malt. Finish is long and bitter. Very nice Pale Ale.

A - amber with a soft, white head that has good retention

S - light malt, some caramel, mild piney bitterness

T - caramel, pine, some toasted malts, some citrusy notes, moderately bitter finish

M - medium bodied, smooth, well carbonated

This is a nice, refreshing APA. It doesn't offer a dominant flavor, but it does have a decent, balanced character that makes it very easy to drink. I would like a bolder hop presence in my APAs, but I did find myself enjoying this one nonetheless. It's worth a try.
