Had one of these on tap at Alamo Drafthouse Lakecreek.

Good looking brew served in a tulip glass. A dark amber, decent head with good retention but not a lot of lacing.

Good pine needle scent backed with just a bit of sweet syrupy malt giving a little sweetness...smelled uber fresh.

Taste follows albeit not quite as pronounced as i'd hoped...sweet malt and earthy pine. Just a bit of grapefruit on the backend. A pretty bitter finish. Medium carbonation and a decent dry bite.

Certainly not a DIPA that knocks down walls...but still a solid and fresh take on the style. Glad to try a good local DIPA. Kudos Rogness.

not my favorite imperial ipa, thats for sure, and my first rogness beer is a poor one. this really looks pretty nice, dark amber in color, red for an ipa, with a massive fluffing of white head as light as a cloud and lasting pretty well. the nose is mostly bitterness with very little interesting hop character and a little more dense malt than it needs, which is odd, because this drinks rather watery. there is a strong metallic tinge on the nose and taste of this, particularly after the swallow, its to the point that its a little tough to drink and hurts my tummy. i do like the lightness of it, but the flavors just arent there. bitterness and minerals as it swallows, thin and bubbly, hefty enough though. a bomber was tough to take down, not because of the alcohol, which i think is respectably well hidden, but because it just doesnt taste very good. ill try something else or two before i write of the brewery though...

22 oz, Wheatsville Co-op in Austin, TX. $7.99 or so.

A: Darker brown. Light head with a copper tint. Solid.

S: Sweet syrup and pine, plain and simple. Malts, malts, malts. Surprisingly absent is the alcohol.

T: Sugar and syrup, with pine interjecting at the 3/4 mark. Almost exact the smell.

M: The shining star of this beer. Perfect mouthfeel. Thick and syrup. A model for DIPAs.

O: Very strange, but it works. Less sweetness would be nice. Certainly unusual, but I think a few months would do this beer well.

Pours a semi translucent copper color, off white finger of head. Looks nice. Aroma is milder, but citrus, pine and some resins, along with a balance maltiness. Taste has a nice pine and earthy hop note, citrus and some sweet fruits, mango, with sweet breadiness, and caramel. Great body. Medium, good carbonation, slick, just feels cleaner and drinkable for the ABV, which is masked quite well. Overall, I thought it was a rather pleasant DIPA. Not too heavy, and nice flavor.
