Had a pint at Republic at Seven Corners. Appeared a clear orange-red with a thick off-white head. Interesting beer, it's got a very nutty—like walnut and almond—malt character with a sweet, candy yeast character from what I assume is an English ESB yeast strain. While the beer itself isn't thick or feel sweet, that candied herb taste probably isn't for everyone, but I was glad to raise a pint.

Smells is biscuit and cracker malt. Taste is biscuit, slightly sweet and fruity with an unpleasant aftertaste. Feel is nicely carbonated and light. Disappointing but got better as it warmed.

Expected, but mild, ESB aroma of toast, biscuit, cherry and floral hops. The taste is nicely balanced, with biscuit, toasted, dark fruit, and spicy & floral hops. Moderately carbonated with a nice dry & firm finish. Pretty typical ESB - quite tasty, executed very well, but nothing to get me to choose this particular beer again.

MSB pours a copper color with a quickly dissipating head. There is really no aromas. Taste is sweeter, lots of apple flavors. Decent body and strength of flavor. Overall its a sweeter and sugary.

From a 12 oZ can poured light semi hazy amber with THICK head of cream. Not picking much on the nose.. a little grainy. Taste is refreshing though I feel the hops is watered down in some way? not too much character. There is a unplaced malt of some variety. All this be said, the feel was of a refreshing beer... just one lacking anything all that great, overall an OK beer.

This is a very good representation of an American attempt at an ESB. It's not quite as good as Bent Paddle's 14º ESB, but it is a great beer in its own right. It is currently one of my favorite beers from MN right now.
