Spent an afternoon at the brew pub and this was one of the highlights.

Poured into my snifter the beer is rusty brown orange. No head no lace.

The aroma is a mouth watering funky sour peach. The barnyard horse blanket is spot on. Hints of wet oak barrel and bourbon are noticed as well.

The flavor is a carbon copy of the nose. Sour peach and a solid dose of brett funk. The bourbon oak is a bit more pronounced in the flavor which adds another layer of complexity.

Medium to light body. Light carbonation.

Overall another well done wild from the midwest. I hope this trend continues.

A preface: I really want to enjoy the Grumpy Troll. They've become more experimental and I certainly appreciate the efforts at brewing styles divergent from your typical local brewpub. However, my experience tonight reminded me of my original thoughts of this place long ago....JT Headaches...sorry JT Whitney's....south.

Tepid amber pour with some dishwater soap bubbles that retreat like a French militia. By halfway through the glass, these surrender monkeys are nowhere to be seen.

Like a good teacher, I'll start with accentuating the positive. The initial peach blast from the tap is evident from across the bar. From five feet away I anticipate a positive experience. As this beer approaches my sniffer, my proboscis is overwhelmed by a fusel blast of banana cognac and boozy, unpleasant dirty Brett. Not good...

This is very, very messy. I can feel the headache following each sip. The Golden Ale base beer is destroyed by a corpse like blend of dead bodies and rotten fruit. There is simply no cohesiveness here. The flavors seem tacked together and not harmonious in any way. Additionally, this beer was woefully under carbonated and made no attempt to hide the 10% tag.

It is never a good sign when the bartender, in a relatively empty bar, takes notice of your mannerisms and never once asks about your experience with the beer. While appreciating the inventiveness here, this is incomplete and not worthy of purchase.

on-tap at the brewpub on a saturday afternoon - went in seach of the Grumpy Cherry, but alas the Peach will suffice

appearance: served in a grumpy troll snifter - thick clear copper body, light beige foam

smell: raw lambic - sharp peach, oak and wood, light blasts of alcohol, sour yet refined

taste: Really regretting missing the Raspberry and Cherry renditions - very impressed by the raw lambic nature - sour peach, oak, hay, nice sournes and not hindered by the 10% abv whatsoever. Really great beer from the grumpy - get in your car now

mouthfeel: medium-thick, alcohol well received

drinkability: good
