The Purple Pub, located in downtown Williamstown, boasts a rotating range of domestic, imported, and craft (largely locally produced) beers. Other beverages are available. I visited on a Saturday evening, relatively early (about 6 pm), and found it packed and rather disorganized. There was no clear place to wait to be seated and no clear host or hostess. The vibe was raucous without being at all welcoming or fun. Basically just loud.
Purple Pub is basically a sports bar with distinct sporting on a few screens, divided into a principle serving area (with a bar) and a small side area (where a private party was in progress). Having wanted to get something to eat and unclear whether a host or hostess would seat us, I made my way to the bar where I did find the server friendly and knowledgeable. The food consisted largely of appetizers, sandwiches, and burgers, no more than standard pub fare. It would be fine for a quick bite were it is not too crowded, but I really do not see myself making an effort to go back.
