This one benefits from low expectations. Private label for HyVee. The other Baraboo offerings I tried weren't so good. This is billed as an IPA but tastes like a hoppy lager to me. Kind of reminded me of Sierra Nevada beer camp hoppy lager and that is a compliment. 6.99 a sixer I can totally dig it. (300 characters)

The Baraboo IPA is more of an English style IPA then an APA....in my opinion. The beer poured a copper clear with thin white head that is leaving some lace. The scent is failrly non-descript...malty...slightly bitter. The taste is bitter from the start through the end where a semi sweet malt kicks in to dissapate the bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its a decent beer....not my favorite style....but good. (449 characters)

A: Caramel-colored hue with a thin but steady cream-colored head; some lacing but not much

S: Some subdued hop aromas: citrus, grassy herbs with a sweet bready malt backbone but pretty subdued

T: Better balance of hop bitterness and bready malts: toffee and biscuity malts with citrus lemon, tea, and grass from the hops--pretty refreshing actually

F: Decent medium body--perhaps a touch thin on the finish

O: Well, this is a decent IPA and one that I'd drink again but not buy--there's just too many American IPA options out there for me to give this too much attention (574 characters)

A big thank you to cpolking for this beer. Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a deep copper color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is kind of malty?! Taste is mild hops, a good bit of malts, a light bitterness. A refreshing taste but if you are looking for a hop bomb, this ain't it. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is different than many IPA's, but not bad. (370 characters)

Dark orange in color, very light haze in the beer. Small white head, good carbonation.

Aroma is of malt, caramel, very little hop aroma.

Taste is balanced, not too sweet or too bitter, notes of toast, grain, caramel, very little hop flavor, bitter finish.

Medium body.

Overall an okay beer, balanced, not all that hoppy, good beer but not a great IPA. (355 characters)
