I guess the hint of sour isn't called for in this style, but I like it.

I'm on the fence with this beer. The dark malt flavor is good, but there is also a sour flavor that was unexpected. It definitely needs more hops. I get a skunky flavor for a brief moment (like a Mexican lager),but the dark malt powers through it.

Pours A perfect midnight black just like the label states. The beer is impenetrable to light and has a nice thick lightly tanned head. The head settles slowly and barely leaves any lacing down the glass.
The nose is nicely smoked malt with a milder than expected hop to it. The nose thinner than I suspected. It is a dry nose.
The taste is nice and crisp and drier than I expected. I is very effervescent and extremely nice. The malt is there but not sweet. There is a tiny hint of sour. Not unpleasant, just enjoyable. The hops are strong but typical American over strong and are nicely balanced with the dryness.
The mouthfeel is decent and is not too watery, just right for this style of beer.
Overall, the taste is very enjoyable and a great pleaser for the palate.

Black as the midnight, huge uncontrolable head, extremely off flavors of soap and metal, very hard to distinguish any actual beer flavor from it if there is actually one. My very first beer down the drain. Why wouldn't they let me put a score under 1? Seriously though, better keep trying better if you wanna survive on this market.

Received 4 22 oz. bombers from a friend who worked at a local bar. They weren't selling very well at the bar, so my friend was given 2 cases. Drank this almost a year ago, but it's an experience I will never forget.
A: Jet black with a very large head. Not bad looking. Head doesn't seem to wanna settle.
S: Soap, chemicals, staleness, a hint of beer smell.
T: Like the smell but more intense. Metallic. Something's way off. I couldn't drink it. If there is any malt or hops in this beer, the off flavors do a wonderful job of covering them up.
M: Somewhat thin, harsh, over-carbonated.
O: I poured it down the drain after about 3 sips. Kept the other 3 bottles to play messed up jokes on a few beer-ignorant friends. They'd gag and I'd tell em I was kidding and give em an FBS.
This is a local brewery and I want to like their beers and support them, but they're making it pretty hard for me to do that.
