Notes/Commercial Description:
Misty Mountain is a great example of the American-style India Pale Ale synonymous with Craft Beer. Originally brewed for sailors on shipping routes between England and India, British IPAs are known for their strong hop bitterness, which were added as a preservative for the long voyage. The American adaptation is decidedly stronger and offers a more robust hop bite. Back East IPA is no exception. This assertively hopped beer has a great hoppy aroma, crisp hop bite, and smooth medium body.

12 ounce can.

w/o any freshness/canning date info

Pours hazed medium amber. Loose off white head and leaving decent looking rings and strands of lace.

On the nose its pine hops.

Respectable IPA, I get mostly pine and resin in the decent but not outstanding brew.

12 oz. can poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Surprisingly dark amber body. Nice white head. Small collar and a wispy surface.

Smell - Estery and a little yeasty. Sweet doughy malts. A little bit of citrus hop. Doesn't smell like an IPA.

Taste - Quite sweet. Resiny pine hop. Again with the doughy malts. A touch of grain. Fruity estery finish.

Mouthfeel - Too sweet. Medium body. High carbonation.

Overall - This is an IPA? What? This was so boss...like boss hog, lol.

out of a bottle given to me by a distributor/salesman

A- Nice dark golden color. A bit cloudy in the glass with some nice bubbles sprinting towards the off white finger of head on the top.

S- Sweet malts take over the smell, a slight hop hop aroma but not as much as I was expecting.

T- Big delicious piney/ citrus hops up front. A bit of tart grapefruit and other citrus notes. Gives way to a sweet malt backbone and a deliciously sweet finish. Every sip makes you want another.

M- Nice mouth feel, subtle carbonation. A bit heavy on the tongue.

O- Overall I was very surprised with this beer. Had this one after previously having their Imperial IPA. Great hop flavor with a nice palette cleansing sweet finish to it. A very good beer overall in my opinion. The 7% ABV is not noticeable until after you have had a few.

First time having this. In a can, poured in a glass. To me it smells like a lager. No potent or distinct smells. Taste is very smooth. At 7% it is just as easy to drink as a yuengling. Very refreshing. Very faint hop taste, smooth finish. I wouldn't say this is for hop heads, but overall a very good beer that could be refreshingly drank one after another.

Purchased a growler from Cork and Wine in Glastonbury and poured into a tulip. I was told this was less than a month old. Me taking it out of the cooler grabbed a lot of attention, the owner of the package store raved about it there recent tasting and another patron chimed in as well.

A: Deep amber, much like a Deviant Dales or Centennial IPA. It is definitely filtered. 1 1/2 finger white head, great carbonation.

S: Piney, bready, and a hint of caramel and floral. It smells very similar to SN Torpedo.

T: Very similar to the smell. Piney and slightly sweet. Again, much like SN Torpedo, however more bitter than SN Torpedo. The bitter profile is throughout and provides an excellent balance. As it warms the after taste is very complex.

M: Excellent. The carbonation is hitting the spot.

Overall: Support locals! I personally like more citrasy IPAs, but this is very tasty. I would recommend it to me fellow Connecticut residents.

Poured from a 12oz can into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light golden brown color, with a large off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a spotty lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains caramelized malts, earthy hops and some citrus.

T: The taste starts out with an earthy hops bitterness. Then some caramel and citrus sweetness comes in. The malt character is hearty but does not provide much balance. The after-taste is slightly bitter.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry but slightly sticky.

O: A little tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, decent representation of style, it’s not a bad beer but considering how many better alternatives there are within the style, I probably wouldn’t drink this beer again unless my choices were quite limited.

12oz can. Pours a murky brownish orange with an inch of head. Lots of lacing. Smells of toffee, caramel, lemon and cut grass. Malty aroma for an IPA. The taste is much like the aroma. Malt forward with a lot of sweet toffee and caramel flavor. Some grassy and floral hop notes as well. Caramel malts at the finish. Medium bodied. Damn drinkable IPA in a can that is perfect for summer. Overall, sweet and malty IPA that's a nice change of pace. Worth grabbing again.
