Appearance: Rather hazy medium brownish-yellow, with a moderate off-white head, which retains well. Thick, patchy lacing adorns the glass walls. The carbonation is slight.

Aroma: Moderate piney hops dominate the aroma, but do not overwhelm. Moderate, lightly toasted pale malt and light fruit aromas are present as well. That being said, the aroma is more like that of an American Pale Ale (APA).

Taste: Moderate pine tar hops open the taste, followed by bready pale malt, caramel, and hints of light fruit. As the taste progresses, the hop bitterness intensifies, never quite overwhelming the solid malt backbone. Finishes with a lingering medicinal bitterness.

Mouth feel: Smooth, fairly full, with moderate carbonation zest.

Drinkability/notes: A pleasant and drinkable, example, perhaps a bit understated.

Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce brown glass long neck bottle with a pry-off crown, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Bought this HEB in Killeen, TX about 2 hours from Fredericksburg where it is made.

Poured into a mixer glass from a 12 oz bottle. Amber in color nice head. smells good. Does not taste like a typical IPA. It has some hops and a hint of ruby red grapefruit minus the natural sweetness and with out the normal bitterness that is expected in an IPA. In the back of my mouth i could taste something familiar but unrecognized yet very yummy. I do like a bitter IPA and this is not bitter but I still like it.

I think this is something I would want to recover with after my next marathon.

I am eager to try the other beers made by this brewer.

Appearance:
Light copper with mild carbonation and a fluffy white head surrounded by a semi dense wall of lacing.
Smell:
The aroma is light overall but hops and grapefruit do come through.
Taste:
Bitter toward the corners of your mouth, some citrus zest flavors are present.
Mouthfeel:
The carbonation is good, this medium boded IPA warmly envelopes your tongue.
Overall:
Mildly bitter and the citrus really come through in this IPA, overall not bad, I would love to drink on a hot summer day.

12 oz bottle pours a mostly clear, golden color with a miniscule wisp of white head, even with a fairly aggressive pour.

Nose is more malty than hoppy with light caramel and grains leading the way. No matter how hard I try, I cant pick out any hops...fail.

Taste is caramel malt, touch of butterscotch...and still no damn hops. This is weak sauce indeed. Amber ale, maybe...Pale Ale, meh, thats pushing it...IPA? Hellz to the no. Label says established in 2012...if they are not careful, they will be extinct by 2013. Mouthfeel is tannic, husky and undercarbonated. Basically this beer sucks, one of the worst beers from the lone star state, and thats saying something!

Color- clear gold with medium head that quickly settles.

Aroma- mild hops with citrus notes and wiff of honey.

Taste- A very mild IPA (an IPA with training wheels). Overall more of a hearty lager than an IPA. Leaves a pleasant and lingering mild citrus hoppiness in the aftertaste.

I have nothing against Pedernales Brewing. My low rating simply reflects my perspective on this sub-par brew as compared to all the other IPAs on the market.

Poured from 355 ml bottle into a Liefmans Goudenband glass (my preferred all purpose beer tasting glass). Tasted 1/27/2013.
