Recently I had a 3 day stay in Bend and 3 day stay in the Hood River area. This beer was by far the highlight of my trip, even after visiting Boneyard, Crux, Double Mountain, Good Life, Bend Brewing, Deschutes, and others.

45 IBU's.

Love the color of this one. Dirty gold, with a nice plump head. Nose hollers spice, slight pine, earthiness, and blueberry. Hints of malt sweetness.

Taste is mild honey, caramel, married with piney-spice, rising citrus and soft blueberries. The finish is dry with hints of grain. Really nice. The sweetness of the malt seems to embrace the flavors of the mosaic hops perfectly. The malt lets the hops shine but never stops trying to play the perfect supporting role. Simply outstanding where flavor is concerned.

Lastly, it should speak volumes that on our way out of Hood River we stopped to fill two growlers with this wonderful beer. Very glad I have another waiting for me. Good Luck Pfriem, I cannot wait to support you and see what you do next!

These guys are killing breweries in oregon. Just crushing them. This beer is perfection. Pored from bottle with a date of a week ago huge aromas of citrus and a crystal clear almost macro color with a closer look revealing slight particles suspended could it be hops well hope so. Taste is tropical all the ways dare I say juicy. For a mosaic hopped beer this is what you will want and what you will expect.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with a fine two finger white head with great retention and lots of lacing. Hop aroma on opening the bottle. Aroma of citrus hops, tropical fruit, a bit dank, light caramel malt and apple juice. Inviting. Flavor of light caramel malt with light biscuit, citrus and mild piney hops, tropical fruit (leaning towards papaya and mango rather than pineapple), light stone fruit, apple juice. Medium bodied with a quite nice creaminess and mouth feel. Pretty much everything I want from a pale ale; flavorful malt body with several malt flavors in good balance, nice fruit oriented hops and a lingering finish that is amazingly well balanced between malt and hops. I love intense hop bombs with long lingering hop bitterness, but this reminds me of what's possible with a great integration between the malt and hops that lingers. There is also a hint of Belgian yeast that fits this quite well. Excellent.

On tap at 16 tons the other day.

The beer pours a golden amber color with good head retention and lacing. The nose is very attractive on this bad boy, showcasing an unusual blend of light skunky weed, light sweet malt, tropical fruit, light pine and dry citrus. I say unusual, because this level of hoppy bitterness is something I usually only find in a really good IPA. The flavor profile replicates the nose, but might be even better. The beer is light, very well balanced, with a great hoppy bite on the crisp, dry finish. Mouthfeel is fairly light, but the beer delivers plenty of flavor, and so this beer is incredibly drinkable. The finish is long, crisp, bitter and satisfying.

How good is this pale ale? If I had to choose between this and zombie dust, I'm not entirely sure I would take the zombie dust. This is just excellent stuff.

Edit from 1/2/16. By the glass and by the growler at Growler Guys PDX. This is just as good as ever, but somehow, the aromatics are even better than they were before. Also, this beer is just so, so drinkable, I felt I had to upgrade the "feel" score as well. One of the very best pale ales I've ever tried, and I feel like that's saying something!

On tap at EB Pizza on 6.18.13

A - Served a pale hazy light orange with a thin off-white head in a pFriem pint glass.

S - Tropical Mosaic hops and not much else. Maybe a touch of citrus.

T - Again tons of tropical fruits. Papaya, mango, yum.

D - Good carbonation with a lighter body an no bitterness.

O - This was the mosaic single hop. Not sure if there are other versions but this one is good.

Bottled 29 Dec 2015, consumed 16 Jan 2016. $3.99 at Trader Joe's

A clear light orange with a dense, white head with good retention and a little lacing, this looks solid. The nose has a bright and fruity hop character with melon, papaya, mango, passionfruit with mild bitterness. With such a fruity and perfumey nose, it's critical that the hop expression be clean without any grassiness and this beer delivers. Malt character is minimal. The palate opens fresh, fruity, clean and mildly bitter. Passionfruit, mango and a little papaya are noticeable with some orange peel bitterness. Clean and fruity through the mid-palate which has a mild floral character before a crisp and refreshing finish. Unlike other Pfriem beers i've had, this beer hovers on the edge of being sufficiently mineraly to be noticeable as opposed to being distractingly so. Alcohol is well-hidden (but arguably higher than necessary. Excellent stuff.
