The story of pilsner starts in 19th century Bohemia when a Bavarian monk smuggled a special yeast to a brewmaster in Pilsen. The story of pFriem Pilsner starts in the Pacific Northwest where it acquires the aroma of fresh grass and flowers and a touch of honey. While there are no monks involved in this pilsner, there is still a crisp and spicy finish.

I love the design of the can.

The smell is pretty mild and slightly skunky even though my beer was not super old. It still smells very nice though and has some pleasant floral notes.

The taste is pretty strong and robust, almost leaning towards an IPA, weirdly enough. Not a typical light and crispy pilsner as it's a bit hoppier than most, but it's a very enjoyable drink none the less. I wouldn't consider it super crushable though. It's strong enough to be a 1-and-done type of beer.

Canned 5/1/23

It’s time to break into woemad’s third BIF box to me, and I can’t think of a better way to start it off than with this simple German Pilsner from a legendary brewery. I’ve only recently started trying their beers and have quite enjoyed them, but I’m excited to dive into their renowned Lager game. Let’s get into it

Pours a cloudy pale yellow with 2 fingers of soapy white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves decent lacing

This is very bright and snappy in the nose, but the raw grainy vibe keeps it in check. I’m picking up on aromas of biscuity malt, lemon zest, black pepper, floral hops, honey, and cereal grain

It doesn’t have quite the same bite in taste, though it’s still very enjoyable. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting crackery malt, floral hops, lemon zest, white pepper, grass, and light honey. The swallow brings notes of crackery malt, honey, lemon zest, floral hops, orange zest, white pepper, grass, abd a touch of apple skin

A light medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes mostly dry with a nice bitterness

Box 3 is off to a great start! Can’t wait to see what other gems woemad has waiting for me

Bottle from Albertsons. Light golden, small, tight white head. Big grainy aroma, sweet, meadow, grassy, hay. Taste also favors the sweet grain bell, with a nice strain of hop bitterness on the back end. Recalls more of a helles lager in flavor, but does have a nice crisp hops bite at the back.

Crystal clear straw color with foamy white head. Great retention and lacing.

Floral aroma, fragrant, slightly soapy, peppery, zesty.

Snap of fresh vegetal, bell pepper flesh, freshly ground white pepper, zested lemon, slight honey sweetness, crisp snappy lightly bitter finish, grassy.

Effervescent, quite dry with just a touch of sweetness.

Excellent pils. Can't go wrong with it. Definitely buy it.

My taste test for today is a p.Friem Pilsner (p freely pilster) p.Friem Pilsner was cold and watery and poured with a greedy head which quickly diminished.
p.Friem Pilsner reminded me of bucking hay in the hot summery days of August when I was much younger and much more able. Definitely hits the spot when you're thirsty but also leaves a great deal to be desired.

can into glass
Rocky and thick head with good amount of foam lace deposits on inside of glass. Clear, light straw appearance. Light amount of a floral hop aroma, along with light toast malt and yeast. Slightly sharp herbal/floral flavor with the slightest lemony note. Fairly light bodied. Floral and a bit of yeast, in the finish, with a little bite.
