Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

This amazing beer was created the day we commemorated the 7th anniversary of the Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes. The opening days, held every year on the first Saturday of November, are the opportunity for the brewer to devise a new recipe.
This one-off impressed B. United International Inc.'s boss so much that he asked for it to be brewed again just for you lot across the Pond. It is brewed using a combination of 6 aroma hop varieties, which give it a moderate bitterness and a complex bouquet evolving over time. Yes, because Cuvee Du 7eme will improve over time, you should stash it away in a cellar.

Batch 5.

Pulled straight from the fridge and it STILL gushed like crazy. Huge unshrinking head of foam in my glass. A small amount of liquid on the bottom...cloudy orange.

Intensely sour bitterness on the nose with a Brett like aroma.

Strong bitter flavour with a fruity and light vinegar tartness, hint of horse blanket. Pouring in the rest of the bottle, I find a mild sweet note or 2.

Mouthfeel suffers some from the over carbonation.

Interesting brew but not one I'd likely visit again.

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at drewone's tasting.

2007 vintage.

Pours a murky orange-brown with a foamy tan head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, earth, spice, and burnt plastic aromas. Taste is much the same with slightly sour grain, fruit, spice, and plastic flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of earth bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an average beer with plastic aromas and flavors that are not very pleasant.

Serving type: bottle.

Fresh on tap at Lord Hobo in Cambridge, MA

Absolute no head at all, even with a two foot pour. At first I thought wasn't even any bubbles but on very close inspection there are some minuscule bubbles on a quarter of the rim. Obviously no head. Dark amber color with strong orange overtones. Some haze.

Strong licorice aroma (anise?). Smells medicinal.

Interesting flavor of caramel and sweet cherry. The anise is present, but less so. Very unusual. Soft and short aftertaste. Great combination of sweetness and licorice. Full bodied with nearly no carbonation.

330ml flip top bottle. Pours a cloudy brownish amber with no head. Aroma and Taste of sweet malt, Belgian yeast, very fruity, some plums and raisins, slightly sour tart flavor. Palate is a medium body, light carbonation, mildly tart flavor. Finishes with Belgian yeast, fruity, plums and raisins, ending I’d mildly sweet tart and fruity. Overall a good drinking Belgian brew.
