Pours a beautiful ruby, burgundy red color; deep nice, glowing and clear. A nice frothy soft cream colored head sets up into a two finger thick cap. Finally settles into a fuzzy but persistent cap. A low head remains throughout the drink. Very nice. Little to no lacing but an overall very nice appearance.
The aroma is the highlight of this beer. Deep funky brett characteristics of must and earthy sweat coupled with a tart cherry bite and alcohol warmth that brings all these aromas together. Oak casts a a deep shadow over the whole beer into a collectively vinous smell. Very wine-like.
The taste follows from the lead of the aroma, starting with light cherry and raisin sweetness. Oak up front leads to vinous twang and malt middle palate, followed by a tart, dry finish and lingering waves of funk and oak. Fruit finishes out early but the beer has plenty of depth and complexity to make it incredibly drinkable.
A nice soft body, subtle yet present carbonation and wonderful flavors leads to an impressively pleasurable beer.
