I liked this beer quite a bit. Pours a hazy gold with plenty of foam, like your standard Belgian Pale. Lots of fruit and a little funk on the nose. It tastes like a Belgian golden ale with some American hoppy character and a pretty interesting saltiness you get right off the bat. A damned tasty beer. It's a novelty, perhaps, but not an undrinkable one. I brought this to a dinner last night, and even the non-beer geeks were just as impressed as I was. Cool beer.

I had the rare feat of having one of these bad boys last week. Labeled as brewed in 09 I think made it that much more enjoyable.

A - a beautiful color, golden with a hue of orange mixed in. A very exciting head that seemed to stick around even after the beer had sat for a few minutes.

S - a bit earthly for me but the worst beer I ever had was still good. You can smell the aging of this beer if that makes sense.

T - absolutely delicious. I was lucky to find this at the beginning of the night so my pallette was clear and not layer with anything else. Mildly fruity seems that there is a bit of a tropical appeal to the brew.

M - full mouth feel. Every taste bud seems to catch something a little different. Full mouth feel to say the least.

O - lucky the people that run the establishment known when to treat a regular well. This was pulled out of the back by the management and presented to me. If you happen to come across this and are a fan of Belgium Pales then you must try this.

Happy drinking!!

A - white foamy head with great retention, dark golden to amber hue with granules (presumably the salt) suspended in the liquid

S - biscuity, slightly phenolic (belgian-esque) with a very faint brine smell

T - slightly salty, dry biscuit and malt flavor that isn't very complex but intriguing; sea water with alcohol?

M - thicker than I expected but not unwholesome, velvety, very little carbonation kicking around

O - very interesting beer and very session able, succinctly good, well balanced and enjoyable

Poured from 750 mL bottle into a Brewer's Art goblet. Moderate hand. Batch 8 is notched, but no date visible. Just bought this, but looks like it was brewed a few years ago...

A: Hazy, golden yellow-orange body. 1/2 finger of thin white head that quickly dissipates to a thin coating. Light lacing.

S: Belgian yeast with fruity notes. Some banana, orange, indistinct spice. Maybe coriander. Noble-smelling hops. Light cracker. Light grass. Good.

T: Brief Belgian yeast spiciness quickly yields to a moderate, noble hop-type bitterness. Semi-dry to dry finish with citrus-zest essence. A bit of pilsner malt biscuit. A subtle saltiness arises in the aftertaste and on the lips. Granted, I was looking for it...

M: Moderate carbonation with a light body makes for smooth drinkability, somewhere between a pilsner and a BPA.

O: Less salty than any Gose I've had, but a rather refreshing, clean-tasting beer. Elements of a pilsner, BPA and a dash of salt on the finish makes for a bit of a gulper. Well done, but not exceptional.

Prost!

On tap at Congregation Ale House in Long Beach, CA.

Pours a hazy orange with a foamy bone head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, earth, and herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with earthy hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with some solid aromas and flavors.
