Picked this up at a great little beer store in Arlon, Belgium, Miorge Mihoublon. This is their 14th Anniversary Weizen Bock brewed with coffee beans. Murky amber-brown pour with an off-white creamy three finger head with decent retention and nice lacing. Spicy, bready, slightly sour, malty nose with hints of banana, apple, toffee, grapes, and a touch of barnyard. The taste is really unique and surprisingly bold. The coffee is much more prevalent along with hints of wood, tobacco, banana, plum, raisin, clove, toffee, brown bread, leather, and just a touch of orange peel. The mouthfeel is slightly thick with medium carbonation, great balance, and a nice creamy, tart finish. Overall, this was not a beer I would normally gravitate to. But I took the recommendation and I'm glad I did. It's crazy unique, crazy flavorful, and weirdly wonderful. I'm totally impressed with BFM so far!

Poured into a weizen glass a murky amber with some chunkies and floatiesswirling at the bottom of the glass,a nice looking large blooming slightly off white head atop that slowly settled into a frothy mass.Aromas have a bit of a warming tone to them,nutmeg and clove over top of bananas foster-like caramel notes,I don't get much sour and/or funk.Mild roasy coffee flavors to go along with caramel and banana,there is a light tart green apple-like note finish.The coffee adds just enough to the flavor profile to give it that added extra something,damn good and inventive.

Enjoyed on tap at Ebenezer's. A good weizenbock, though not the best I have had. Good drinkability, smooth, tasty citrus. I would expect a fuller mouthfeel,however.Suitably carbonated.Fruity.A touch of cherry. A good head. A little sugary, Sweetish overall, glad I had it on tap.

Pours out a light caramel color with a thinnish white head. Smells of light funk, caramel, chocolate, spicy yeast. Has the maltiness of a dunkelweizen, but with a kind of Franco-Belgian funky, tart yeast character. I don't pick up much coffee, if at all. Mouthfeel is pretty light for the alcohol strength. Carbonation is a bit prickly. Certainly an unexpected beer, based on this being labeled a coffee dunkelweizen. Tasty.

Bottle: Poured a light clear brown color bock with a medium size off-white foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of tart and hoppy notes with quite strong floral coffee aromas. Taste is unique mixes of tart notes mix in with dry hoppy notes with some floral coffee notes with light dry bitterness. Body is light with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very unique mix of flavours but not sure I would feel the need to drink this again.

Poured from a 750 mL green bottle into a Brewer's Art goblet. Moderate hand. Label has batch notched at 5. Didn't realize this was a one-off...

A: Cloudy, rust-colored orange with 1 solid finger of off-white head. Decent retention. Nice lacing.

S: Yeast dominant. Lactic tartness. Lemon, clove, spice. Floral hops. Light soap. Maybe if I strain I can pick up traces of banana.

T: Slight tang and touch of funk leads into an assertive hop bitterness. Builds to a fairly dry, floral finish. Muted coffee notes arise late and linger into the aftertaste. No alcohol to speak of.

M: Smooth, moderate carbonation and moderate body. Well suited to the flavor profile. Very nice.

O: Well, I'm a bit confused with this beer. I liked it, and then I liked it less, and then I liked it a bit more, and then a bit less, and so and so forth. Not a typical Weizenbock at all, let's just get that out of the way. More of a Belgian pale or a heavily hopped saison. Or a hybrid of the two. Interesting quaff, but I do suspect this probably drank better earlier in its life...

On tap at Birch:

Yummy. Very different (obviously) from a typical Weizenbock-much more sour-but super tasty all the same. Very unique, woth trying. You will try . . . you will try. Excellent. Looking forward to more. So easy to drink. Has to be tasty with food too.

Bottle from Beermasons. Been harbouring for a year at least.

Clear toffee-amber, on the first pour at least, with a billowing beige head that takes forever to collapse. Nice latticework.

Weizenbock? Strikes as more of an amber ale with the slightly lactic BFM yeast strain very much in evidence. Decent bready caramel aromas alongside assertive red grape and balsamic. Only a hint of the richer toffee and banana notes you'd expect. Quite alright, if not even close to style.

Taste is a largely yeast-driven melange of sour grape, nailpolish remover and stale, almost tannic notes, which dominate the non-descript caramel malt backbone

Medium body, moderate carbonation. Feels lighter than 7.5% Lactic, almost metallic finish isn't all that pleasant

Whatever this confused beast is trying to be, it aint a Weizenbock. Knowing Beermasons though, this bottle is probably in terrible nick.
