XX

Golden amber, maybe a touch lighter than their standard line of IPAs.

Ultra dank on the nose, sticky icky. Lots of bitter hops on the tongue, grapefruit rind. A little over the top for me but I can see the appeal.

32 ounce growler
Served in a tulip
New Stunt XVIII, El Dorado, Mosaic, and Nelson Sauvin hops

This beer pours clear and golden in color. It is topped with three inches of off white head that leaves a little lacing.

I get fresh citrus and tropical fruit. There is a little dank smell to it along with some pine.

The first things I taste are mango and pine. The citrus, tropical fruit, and pine flavors make a delicious IPA.

Medium and slick mouthfeel

JAFB is making some of the best IPA's in Ohio. The New Stunt series is no exception. This is the third one that I have tried and the have all been awesome. It is truly one of the best IPA's that I have ever had.

Wow. What a surprise. This New Stunt XVIII. Mosaic and Nelson Sauvin hopped. A lot of dry hopping going on. Very citrus hop forward. No malt detectable. A little dankness in the finish but overall a very bright clean IPA. Very well crafted and extremely enjoyable. Due to it being so hop forward I question its drink ability but hop heads should flock here. Would definitely have again.

New Stunt is one of Ohio's best IPA's. New Stunt is also one of the country's best IPA's. There have been several iterations, many with new and experimental hops anchored in classics like simcoe, centennial, and chinook, but the quality is consistently in the upper eschelon of IPA.

No homer here - I've had all the big guns including the brewery only stuff from NE & SD and everywhere in between - including the GABF winning stuff from my own state of Ohio - this is probably the most under-the-radar block rocker in the USA.

Beautiful golden orange color, nice fluffy white head and great lacing.

The smell is always tropical and citric with some dank on the bottom.

The taste is brilliant - soft bitterness and mostly dry hopped flavors of tropical fruit. Just a lick of sweet malt to balance.

The mouthfeel gives HF IPA's a run for their money...perfect, carb, dry-hopped driven bitterness and a smooth finish that begs for another sip

One of the few beers in Ohio I will always drive an hour for when it goes on tap. Up there with Rajah, Head Hunter and Bodhi, and sometimes even better! Drinkability is off the chain - one of the few hop bombs I can easily solo a growler of without getting bored.

I'll add additional notes/reviews for versions here:

New Stunt XVII (17): Mosaic, Simcoe & El Dorado with a touch of Nelson. This one is less juicy and a bit more dank forward. Mosaic and Nelson play the softening role while the Simcoe is really driving the flavor. Had this at 2 days old and think it'll drink even better in a week or two. A nice comeback from last batch - on point again and up there with the best hoppy beers in the country!!

New Stunt XVI (16): Not the best batch of this beer. Paul said he lowered the OG a point and didn't like the way the hops turned out. Mostly the standards - no experimental hops in this one; Mosiac, Citra, and lots of El Dorado. ...The looks and mouthfeel were both still spot-on, albeit with a slightly drier finish. The nose was not as tropical and bright as I've come to expect and the taste was just muted. Can't wait for 17, which Paul was really psyched about. Should drop the week of 10/12.

New Stunt XV (15): A throwback to New Stunt I. GAFB 2015 entry batch. Mosaic and Nelson drive the nose with bright tropical notes, some orange and grapefruit pith. Simcoe anchors the entire bittering component; never too catty, plays nice with the Chinook on team dank and the Citra on team tropics. Nelson/Tropical dry hop with just enough El Dorado to balance it out. Mango and melon peek their heads then fade into grapefruit rind and pine needles. Simply insane version, classic and cutting edge at the same time. A serious contender for best IPA ever brewed in Ohio.

New Stunt XIV (14): New Zealand Waimea hops add to the mix. Huge citrus (tangerine and grapefruit). Nice spin on the stunt!

New Stunt XIII (13): Mosaic, Equinox and Nelson bring the tropics to the party. Just an amazing showcase of tropical fruit and citrus (lemon, papaya) gooseberry and a balanced pine.

New Stunt XI (11): Mosaic, Equinox, Waimea, Simcoe, Centennial & Nelson. Probably the dankest Stunt I've had. Mosaic driven, so you get Baby Simcoe and Daddy Simcoe tag teaming the pine and citrus. Grapefruit and some orange peel, maybe some melon too but much more citrus than tropical. Killer stuff!

Had this many times since the original (over 30 variations now) and of all their IPAs, this is probably my favorite. Original review on a flight sized and subsequent full pour.

One of the least appealing appearances of the 3 ipas I sampled. Light golden yellow with a thin soapy white head.

Looks can be deceiving. This is by far the best of the lot. It honestly drinks a bit more like a DIPA in body honestly, but it is loaded with pungent, resinous pine and tropical fruits. Great balance with the malt base. Solid bitterness all the way through. Great beer.

On tap at JAFB - This was New Stunt XIV (July 2015)

Full flavored dankness. Similar malt bill to their other IPA's. Golden hue with white sticky head. I had originally thought this was a DIPA...whoops. Again, great execution from JAFB on another quality IPA. The only thing that threw me off was it came across as a bit overly dry hopped, but I know some people really dig that. This is a beer made for the hop heads. Excellent.

I've been fortunate to have tried most of the iterations of New Stunt. Each one tastes/smells a little different, but all have been winners.

The tropical aroma is just outstanding. So lucky to live close to this brewery.
