This deep mahogany red strong ale is a classic example of a winter warmer that’s high in alcohol and rich in taste. An excellent balance of malty sweetness and hoppy bitterness, gives aromas of Christmas cake with hints of black treacle and vine fruits.

Presentation: Poured from the squat, green, 500 ml St Peter's bottle into an Imperial pint glass. Label is simple red, with a gold foil surround. Short description on the back label and some indecipherable ink stamping on the neck.
Appearance: Pours with just over 2 fingers of medium tan head. This settles slightly, essentially collapsing to a more dense head. Nice lacing. The beer itself is a dark brown, opaque in the middle, with a little light coming through the edges. No sediment in the bottle.
Smell: Sharp notes of a nutty, tobacco like sweetness with an underlying lactose sweetness.
Taste: This one is very difficult for me to pin down. Toffee like, but darker, more caramelized, bordering on charred. Mild hop bitterness in the finish. A hint of wet cardboard oxidation in the finish
Mouthfeel: Average carbonation level. Incredibly thick and viscous body.
Drinkability: This one was so-so. Great looking and a decent smell, but the overly charred flavor and the too forward oxidation make it just mediocre+.

enjoyed while watching this years toy show, took no notes, lovely dark mahogany colour, creamy off white head with great retention, nice black bread caramel toasty malt flavour, treacle and milk chocolate, earthy, sweet, pretty wintery, pretty drinkable, lacking in depth of flavour somewhat though, but still reasonably nice.

Opaque black color. Slightly creamy light brown 1 finger head, lasting around 5 minutes, with decent legs and swirl reaction. Flavors of toffee, dark grains, raisins, walnuts, and herbal hops. Slick creamy medium to full body with light carbonation. Medium strength finish, malty roasted feel with soft leafy hops. Decent freshness, good balance, and well bodied for the style. Warms up pretty well indeed. Overall very good quality craft.

From elcervecero. In Ikea's pint glass. Playing Blackwell Legacy. Complex, with smokey and coffee notes and still very drinkable. Not what I expected in a winter beer but still great. Much better than the St Peter's brews Ive bought in ECI: because the recipe or because the conservation?

Pours cola with lingering tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, dark chocolate and dried fruit. Tastes of coffee, sweet malt, dark fruit and a little spice. Full body with light carbonation. Aftertaste of chocolate and dark berries. Really nice balance overall.
