medicine-style bottle into sam smith pint glass.

this is one of my favorite beers, so I shall try to account for my favoritism in grading.

decent aroma, a bit of the lactose, malts. appearance is splendid: thick and creamy head, no real lacing though. black body with some ruby highlights on the bottom of the glass. taste is a bit milky, bitter, and a great chocolate malt aspect. the feel is a bit thick and overcarbonated, but the only real complaint is the carbonation level, I think it is fine with this body. the aftertaste is perfectly bittersweet. really is an excellent sessioning beer.

Poured from 500mL bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: extremely dark body with just the faintest hints of ruby highlights coming through when held up to a light. Head is a finger of frothy dark tan foam. Quite appealing!

Smell: sweet aroma with a ton of toffee and caramel character; indeed, almost milky-sweet. There even seems to be mild fruity undertones -- not unlike Amarula. Quite good.

Taste: sweet, but with plenty of character. It reminds me of a nice Baltic porter; there's chocolate and roast, but also fruitiness, toffee and caramel. Definitely a winner!

Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a good carbonation and a decent creaminess. There's something a little grainy about the mouthfeel, too, but in general it's quite good.

Overall: a very pleasing milk stout. I'll definitely have this again.

A - the only disappointing thing about this amazing beer is the head. Lol glad she's not my wife. Pours black color which is perfect but has a small creamy colored head with thin lacing.

S - sweet smelling beer like honey or molasses. Unique and very enjoyable odor.

T - wow. Wow. Very well crafted. I like my beer slightly more sweet than bitter and that is exactly what St. Peter's delivers. Sweet, sweet stout flavor.

M - full bodied as expected very smooth and not at all dry. Excellent.

O - world class beer. 2nd best beer I've had to date. Must try for any beer lover. A+

Appearance: This beer looks extremely black...not sure if it is "pitch black" or just "kinda black", but it looks dark enough to me. Exactly what it is I wanted my beer to look like after work. 4.5\5

Smell: This beer stumbles a bit with the smell. Their is too much esters...it comes off a bit too sweet smelling. I also get some green apple like smells. It needs a lot of malt and chocolate aroma in my opinion. However, the smell also has an extremely sweet and rich smell to it. Maybe my bottle is too old? maybe. But I still give it a 3.25\5

Taste: This beer has a lot of off flavors in it. Its obvious that it was fermented far too hot, as the esters that I smelled in the beer are very present in the flavor. despite this, the beer still has a decent heavy taste...but its off set a LOT by the surprising harshness of the beer. I cannot say that I am impressed. 2.75\5

Mouthfeel: This beer does get this right. The feel is heavy and hearty. 4\5

Overall: I was expecting lot more from this beer...and really, it did not deliver at all. I'm sorry to say it, but this beer is..well..kinda bad...but an enjoyable kind of bad. Its just slightly below average. Its obviates that their is a good beer here, but I cannot know for certain. I have no idea how long the beer was sitting on the shelf, so that might be it, but still, this reeks of bad brewing practice.

I give it a 2.75\5

Worth once MAYBE on sale, but still, kinda a bad beer. Il probably never try it again, and do not recommend it. Get double cream ale instead, its a far better made brew.
