Poured into a perfect pint.

3.0 A: Lightly hazed medium orange color. Just one finger of frothy off-white head. Retention is below average and just a few whisps of lacing are left.

3.75 S: Smells like a typical English pale with notes of grapefruit. Mildly toasty with grainy neutral maltiness. Mineral, caramel, earthy hoppiness with grapefruit fruitiness.

3.5 T: Tastes pretty much like it smells. A little hoppier than I was expecting though. Toastiness, graininess, caramel, mineral, earthy hops, light nondescript citrus, and grapefruit.

4.0 M: Medium to heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation with a nice creaminess. Has some weight to it, but isn't really chewy. It works well.

3.75 D: Not bad. I don't know if the grapefruit added anything to the beer, but it didn't take away either.

£1 at Morrisons under the name of 'Citrus Beer'. A very ordinary bitter with an fairly obvious grapefruit quality. Nothing particularly special. It needs more bitterness to carry the grapefruit properly. Just a bit dull.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Aug 2018. Purchased recently from Morrisons. The name on the label is 'Citrus Beer', but it specifically mentions grapefruit and the ABV is the same. I'm confident this is the same beer with an edited label.

A: Poured into a pint mug. A clear dark amber colour with good carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing.

S: Aroma of juicy grapefruit with hints of citrus zest, pith, subtle caramel malt and mild ale yeast. Fruity and delicious.

T: Tastes of zesty grapefruit with notes of citrus, juice, mild caramel malt, ale yeast and faint stewed leaves. Aromatic yet dry, with a restrained bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and decent body. A little on the thin side. Aftertaste of zesty grapefruit, citrus, subtle malt and ale yeast.

O: Pretty good, if a little one-sided. Looks OK, while the aroma and flavour are dominated by juicy grapefruit notes underpinned by delicate malt and yeast. Body is alright but a tad watery. Goes down easily enough, particularly if you like grapefruit. Worth trying.

Poured a nice dark aamber colour with a small head which left a lot of lacing and a layer of foam.

Nose is pleasant. Malt, biscuit, grapefruit in abundance.

Palate is very good with lots of malty flavours, citrus, some grapefruit and a mild hop bitterness at the end. Very refreshing.

Mouth is very nice - quite creamy.

Overall I was impressed with this beer. I expected it to be very heavily flavoured but the grapefruit is very subtle.

Very refreshing, light citrusy ale.

Recommended.

Cool bottle....ok beer. The beer poured a clear golden (was careful to avoid sediment) with white head. The scent was grapefruit. The taste was also mostly grapefruit. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with little carbonation. Overall is was ok....glad to have tried it but probably would go buy more of it.

Compliments of Another6Pack!

It pours a hazy to cloudy orange, has a 2 finger head of foam.

Nice bitter notes of grapefruit with some earthy malt notes.

The grapefruit is more bitter in the smell than in the taste. Kind of a light bitterness tempered by a honey like sweetness and an earthiness about it. Okay, it does get a bit more bitter with more sips. Pretty nice brew.

On the low end of medium bodied, same with the carbonation. I like the mouthfeel.

Overall, a tasty grapefruit fruit brew with low a enough abv to enjoy more than 1 if I had one. Good stuff.

500ml bottle from Utobeer, London (£2.70):
Amber with a large, foamy white head that is foamy, dome shaped and very thick.

Floral with grapefruit, citrus & honey. Bitterness towards the end & an earthy aroma with some lighter hops too.

Orange & citrus notes upfront with a lot of bitterness and to a lesser extent some grapefruit too. Floral & mellow with some earthy flavours making an appearance too.

Light medium bodied and quite bitter from the outset with subtle carbonation and a touch of dryness.

A grapefruit and citrus mix with earthy tones & strong bitterness. A nice offering and definitely something a bit different from the usual, overly sweet taste of a regular fruit beer.

A just barely off-white head rises to one finger in height and settles quickly down to a thick foam atop a cloudy, burnt copper-colored beer. It leaves a solid ring where it settled and steady craggy spotting the rest of the way down.
Herbal notes and floral, earthy bitterness up up front with some tobacco leaf, all a bit stronger than the grapefruit sneaking out underneath.
The flavor offers surprising bitterness, mostly pithy and herbal, with the tobacco leaf making as strong an appearance as on the nose. Citrus rind and grapefruit flesh meld together, with a dry biscuit effect from malts.
The mouthfeel offers a good balance of crisp and smooth with an underlying chalky feel to the dryness I get from some English beers. Herbal and leafy bitterness lingers into the finish.

Appearance: Pours a pale color with a small head. Nothing special here except when factoring in the great bottle into the appearance (which I do).

Smell: Do I smell roasted malt? Grass plus citrus hop scent with of course the added natural grapefruit flavor.

Taste: More of the same. Roasted malt? citrus hops, grass, and grapefruit. Finishes dry and certainly not overly sweet. The grapefruit flavor is undeniable and while I'm not sure it perfectly collaborates with the other flavors, it doesn't taste artificial.

Mouthfeel: Smooth. Carbonation is somewhat low. Goes down very easy, but still somewhat astringent from the grapefruit flavors, and finishes dry.

Overall: The cool bottle and the brewery's history aside, this beer isn't really that special, and when considering the cost of the beer, it's rather disappointing. Some beers showcase grapefruit flavors from the hop selection alone, and that would have been more impressive. I found the grass flavor to be unwanted. Anyway, this is a good beer, but not a great one, and there are far better fruit beers out there.
