Union Bear is a new beer bar in the "West Village" of Dallas. This West Village is a new mixed-used development where stores and apartments mingle, and the whole thing looks like Rodeo Drive-meets-Palm Beach.
Among all the preppy storefronts and Tommy Bahama outfits, Union Bear stands out. Cool beer, cool atmosphere, cool hipster bartenders with handlebar mustaches...
There is a large patio outside, a small bar on the first floor and a larger bar downstairs, plus tables all around. The joint has a techno/industrial feel to it, I dig it. Great Oldies music to boot!
About 35 taps, with lots of Texas beer of course. The menu is divided in lighter/darker/small batch, and includes Armadillo Quakertown, Lakewood Temptress, Lips of Faith Pluot, Real Ale Scots Gone Wild, Deep Ellum Num Comfort.
Union Bear is owned by the same guys as Eno's in Bishop, so expect the pizza to be outrageous (I haven't tried it yet). There is a happy hour from 3pm to 6pm for pizza and beer, and food served late too.
All in all a damn fine establishment, but be warned that parking is difficult and finding the bar won't be easy either (the address says McKinney but the whole West Village complex is at that address!).
