homeless people milling around and routinely coming inside to ask crowds of patrons for money. sweet.

This place was fun. It's open a hair sterile, but not in the company. While the pretentious may hang (somewhat regrettably) at Hair of the Dog, the truly cool folks seem to congregate here on the weekend. Super comfortable vibe. I wish they were big enough to offer a greater selection, but that is pretty average. I consider this place a must visit on your trip to Portland if you've never been here.

Very hipster vibe. Trying really hard to be trendy, even for Portland.
The beer selection was meh, it was a lot of run of the mill pales and IPAs. The saisons were the high point but overall I wasn't too into any of it.

A broad selection of beers available in their airy Portland brewpub. I didn’t try any food. Well done beer menu. Closes at 10 SHARP. Walking distance to Cascade Brewing Barrel House, which I preferred.

a very enjoyable stop on our brewery walkabout of portland. neat space, very outdoors themed with some cool adventure art behind the bar, a water cooler suspended from the ceiling like a rock climber, a kayak hanging up, this makes you want to strap on the hiking boots, definitely catering to a more outdoorsy audience. big expansive taproom with a large covered patio on the side as well, room for a few hundred comfortably i would imagine. i had three beers here, all of which were very good but lacked the intangible quality to be excellent. they were inventive though, which i always appreciate, and is probably mandated by the portland market. service was irrelevant, not bad in any way, but just silently poured our beers and ran my card, no niceties or anything, but they handled a busy bar well enough. real cool homemade wooden tables in here with boulders for supports, artsy and attractive. they had a whole wall of taps, lots of selections, and some specialty bombers to go as well. overall this wasnt the most impressive brewery we visited, but i think that might just be because we only had a few and left. i have a feeling if we stuck around to taste through them all that we would have found a few gems on the list. groovy place to sit and relax after some adventuring around the northwest. they seem to have quite the loyal following around town as well.

I don't know....I feel like this place focuses too much on a gimmicky theme. The place looks and feels EXACTLY like an REI, so I cannot help but feel a bit pandered to. I love the outdoors and I love beer, so I am not really sure why this rubs me the wrong way. I guess I just prefer my breweries to let their beer do the talking, without all the marketing and pretentiousness. All that said, they have plenty of room, the staff is super friendly, the beer is solid and Koi Fusion is one of the best food carts in town.

Excellent ambiance in a great part of town. Plenty of seating, especially in the summer months. Service could have been quicker for the number of people there, but I was taken care of well and with a smile. Had a great time and will definitely be back.
