Hopothesis IPA pours a copper color with a nice large lacing head. There is a weak grainy aroma, with corn notes. The taste is big with adjunct flavors, very stale grain, corn like flavors. Flavors are stronger (which is a bad thing), nice body though. Overall it tastes like a stronger Budweiser, lots of adjunct like flavors.

No hoppy flavor. No hoppy aroma. Definitely not an IPA. Has more of a lager flavor, but even that would be generous for this nebulous waste of beer making supplies. Website says HQ is Chicago, IL but bottle says brewed/bottled in Monroe, WI. Minhas? Berghoff? Blame who you want, other than yourself for buying this stuff.

355ml bottle. Another shell company selling Minhas product. Comical, sort of.

This beer pours a clear medium golden amber hue, with one finger of fizzy, somewhat foamy, loosely bubbly wan beige head, which leaves a few low bands of stringy lace around the glass as it quickly abates.

It smells of sharply metallic, flinty generic citrus and pine hops, pale caramel malt, and another jab of medicinal alcohol. The taste is like a shot of west coast hop-infused cough medicine - acrid, fake fruity, and chemical in its booziness. A bit of stringent caramel malt eventually burbles up, but to little avail.

The carbonation is a tad edgy, but at least evident in its quotidian work, the body medium-light in weight, and way too flinty to trick me into believing its up front pithy smoothness. It finishes off-dry, still hot-seeming, the hops and malt both corrupted and weirdly abetting.

This is hardly an English or American IPA overall, though perhaps there is a nod to the latter, but it's way too obfuscated by a certain alcoholic stank. Neither enlightened nor really hoppy, and a further waste of a decent pun in the name.

Definitely the best thing about this beer is its appearance. Nothing else, except the ABV reflects anything close to a traditional or even recognizable IPA. Almost no hops in the nose, very little in the taste, body is not bad except there's some missing characteristics that the hops give to the mouth feel. And of course the finish sums all of this up. I can hardly imagine how a more forgettable beer could be made.

Poured a hazy copper color with thin white head.

The nose has a bit of a copper quality and a light bit of sweet malt.

The flavor is very odd. Has a sweet sort of artificial taste. Not much in the way of hops, just a l light bitterness.

The mouthfeel is thin.

Overall it's not very good. I wouldn't call it IPA at all. More of a bad amber.

This pours a clear golden color with a slight foamy head with a slightly bitter aroma. The taste is smooth and has a very sour/bitter tone. There is a flavor that tastes like old sour water that distracts from the overall taste. This could definitely use some work and improvements.

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Like others have noted, another faux craft beer "brewery" brewing cheap swill under a guise. Bottle says Chicago, IL and Monroe, WI on the label. Expectations are average, based on this knowledge.

Poured into a clear balloon snifter glass.

A - Pours two fingers of off-white head on top of a bright burnt sienna orange colored body. This could pass for a decent IPA, based on appearance. Head thins to a bubbly ring around the edges with a little bit of stringy lacing.

S - The smell is another story. Virtually no bitter hop presence from the centennial and cascade hops 'used' here. Smells like cheap swill, in all honesty. Cheap expired dusty malts & grains, a hint of caramel, and some rubbing alcohol fumes are about all you can expect out of this one.

T - Taste is more of the same: cheap dusty generic cereal grains, malts, coppery / metallic, and virtually no hop presence whatsoever. I thought this was supposed to be an IPA? Either way, the taste here definitely reflects the quality of the ingredients used. Very disappointing.

M - Feel is dry and bitter, but with that cheap dusty-shelf malt liquor edge to it. Carbonation is a tad overdone, but is tolerable.

Overall, another soulless shell of a beer from Minhas, posing itself as an authentic IPA, and further posing itself as a separate brewery based in Chicago, when they only have this one awful beer under their belt. High 7.10% abv is absurdly unnecessary. A true gimmick if there ever was one; I had high hopes but walked away disappointed. Avoid.

On tap at a fancy hotel bar. The bartender said it was better than GI's Green Line, so my guess is she gets a cut out of each pint she sells.

Tastes like a decent homebrew IPA. Medium-alpha hops of no clear origin, lightly thick syrup malt, and a wee little hint of extract medicinalness. Not very good for a commercially sold beer. It actually tastes little bit like something from Minhas or Cold Springs--has the same nodes of poison--but thankfully the hops are okay and are strong enough to blot most of that out.

I could finish it, but I certainly would not recommend--especially in a city that has literally 10 excellent house IPAs at its disposal.

Trying hopothesis for the first time and I am not impressed. The beer carries more malt than hops and is very sweet. The beer pours a hazy copper with thin white head that is leaving a nice lace. The scent is mostly a sweet malt with very subtle hints of hops. The taste start bitter with a metallic twang then turns slightly sweet and then finishes bitter. The mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall, at 7%abv this beer really serves no purpose. It doesn't taste good enough to casually drink and it is too strong to session.
