12 oz. bottle poured into pilsener

L: murky gold/orange; 1-inch head plus of off-white foam, almost tan; big stick; brew is mostly opaque

S: sweet, grain; caramel; smells like a muddled American DIPA with no hops

T: caramel sweet, barely a hint of spicy hops

F: very solid all around, definitely not watery

O: quite disappointing ... a well-made lager is generally crystal clear, whereas this thing is muck; it's possibly quite old, but with no dating on the bottle, how could you know? just a sweet muddled mess. i definitely won't try this one again unless I know it's fresh.

Picked this up from Central Market in a custom 6-pack.
From the bottle to a Sam Adams Lager laser-etched glass.

A - Nice straw gold color, with a thin and quickly disappearing head.

S - Sweet, like candy. Actually, it smells almost exactly like cotton candy. Now I'm intrigued.

T - Pretty good. I'm not a huge Lager fan, but this one is a good example of the style. Balanced.

M - Smooth and refreshing, not much of an aftertaste.

Summary - Not bad. I had this with pork tacos. It went well with the meat, but once I hit a spicy pocket, the beer clashed with it. I'd recommend this with a burger or pizza - something not spicy.

Caramel- colored and clear- bodied, this beer serves up a decent amount of foam that eventually settles into a somewhat lumpy layer and leaves a good amount of lace as you consume. The nose on this beer is sweet, caramel- like, and with toasted/toffee malt notes.

Moving to the taste, I get just about what I expected. The flavor is a mixture of caramel, dough, and toasted malt. Some grassy hops and spice greet the palate in the finish and the flavor is pleasant and crisp. There is even a dab of citrus in there, for those willing to search.

This Vienna lager style brew is a light to medium- bodied brew and it is just a touch watery in the finish. Some may not even notice the watery attribute because the hit of spice at the end helps to block it. But concentrate and you will find it and it does make the beer a little less enjoyable than it otherwise might be.

Still, this does seem like a respectable effort from this newer Texas brewery and it does have enough going for it to recommend. I plan to offer some bottles to friends tomorrow, just to see what they think. It isn’t outstanding, but I predict most everyone who tries it will find it worthy of a second bottle.

On tap at Garland mall. Pours dark amber with long lasting, fluffy white head. Aroma is of caramel malt and hops. Body is medium and crisp. Taste is of grapefruity hops and caramel malt. Finish is long, citrusy. I would prefer noble hops in this brew.

A: Pours a clear reddish/orange color. A pillowing white head rises, and eventually recedes to a ring. Plenty of lace is left behind.
S: I get kind of a sulfur, DMS aroma up front. Quickly followed by toasted malts, and cereal grains. A bit of grassy hops in the finish.
T: Sweeter than I was expecting. Caramel malts followed by toasted and cereal grains. Well balanced with a touch of grassy hops in the finish.
M/D: A light to medium body. A bit on the watery side for me. I am wanting a little bit more crisp bite from the carbonation, and I am not getting it. Easy to drink and fairly enjoyable. I will be happy to finish the six pack.

A good lager for the most part. Not among the better lagers available from Texas breweries, but still very enjoyable. One of my favorite styles, and I am glad to grab a sixer.

Poured into a snifter because I want to be able to properly assess all the intricacies of a Vienna lager.

Comes out a oranger/slightly amber with a white head.

Some toffee, caramel, and bready type of malt character and some spicy and grassy noble hop. Basically a good straightforward aroma you are looking for.

There is a nice hit of bitterness from the hops. You get those lagery malt character. A little grassy and coppery. There is a little toastiness to it which is cool but overall pretty meh.

Light-medium bodied crisp beer. I guess this a good replacement for BMC if you live in Dallas. I would drink pretty much every other beer Lakewood makes over this though.

12 oz bottle courtesy of fthomasl pours a crystal clear copper color with a stiff, off-white head. Nice retention and some decent lacing. Honestly, you really cant ask for more on the appearance with the brilliant clarity and dense foam.

Nose has some sulfurous lager yeast, burnt toast and toffee. Im not really getting any hops in here. Smells ok, but I am not a huge fan of overly toasty brews.

Taste has alot of the toast but it is balanced by a sweet doughy caramel. Hops are still pretty non-existent but there is a light drying bitterness on the finish, a little leafy even. Its a fairly good lager, one I would be happy to order on tap at a restaurant, but it really doesnt do a whole lot to distinguish itself from the pack of vienna lagers. If I had the choice Id rather grab a Penn pilsner, Firebrick or Elliot Ness.

Tap at Jack Mac's.

The beer pours an orange-copper color with a white head. The aroma is very malty with some biscuit and bread notes, as well as some toffee and a bit of sugar. The flavor is also very malty. There is good toffee and caramel in the flavor, as well as some sweet biscuit malt. There is also a hint of grass. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
