On tap at Jack Mac's. This is a combination dunkel and a pumpkin ale.

The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is full of nutmeg and cinnamon, with not too much else going on. The flavor is similar. I get some roasted malt and pumpkin notes, but the pumpkin pie spices (mainly cinnamon and cloves) really come through the most. I also get a hint of yeast and some sugar, but it is very faint. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

12 oz bottle pours a dark chestnut color with a small tan head. Not much for retention and lace.

Nose is toffee, pie spice and mild roast. A nice, fairly balanced pumpkin beer. The dunkel aspect comes across surprisingly well and the spices are not too over the top.

The lager base really shows some nice clean malts that go really well with the light pie spice. dunkel base gives it just enough sweetness. Very good beer...subtle yet delicious - something you could drink a couple of in a row.

A orange brown, thin head, min lace. S very sweet pumpkin, fall pecan. T lots more of nose, lots of sweet pumpkiness. M great carbonation and silky mouthfeel. O very creative mix of pumpkin and dunkel, enjoyable all around. Had on tap at OSDH on world beard day.

In a shaker pint.

Punkel has a cola colored body with garnet flashes at the edges of the glass. A maple syrup colored cap barely covers the lid of the beer.

I get whiffs of brown sugar, caramel, ginger, rye bread, and an earthy quality out of this beer. I probably would not guess pumpkin or pumpkin pie, but I like the spicing nonetheless!

A few quaffs reveal an immediate rye bread bitterness, some clove, nutmeg, and just a smidge of brown sugar. Then the dunkel starts to show with some earthy, roasty, biscuity flavors. The finish does not give much in the form of the "spices" that are supposed to be here, just more of that solid dunkel base.

Punkel drinks very smooth and does a nice job of feeling like a "big" beer, which is a testament to its creaminess.

The spice of this beer is most apparent on the nose, whereas the palate is mostly a very solid dunkel. Even if the lack of spicing noticed on the palate is a disappointment, I would certainly drink this again.

It is dark, reddish brown in color with a medium white head. Smells of creamy malt & spice without much pumpkin coming through. The pumpkin does appear a lil stronger in taste. It combines with a toasty caramel flavor and cinnamon. It's subtle & true to the Dunkel style. If youre looking for an over the top "pumpkin bomb", look elsewhere. Very enjoyable & sessionable winter warmer.

Clear deep amber with a thick lacy off white head.

Nose is pretty much just straight pumpkin pie spices of nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger.

Crisp carbonation and medium bodied. Has a lingering spice and some malt breaks in which is nice.

Probably not the best base dunkel but with the spices it's hard to tell. Tastes good enough.
