With flavors of banana and clove this Bavarian specialty is well known within our market. Our head brewer has won a number of medals with Hefeweizen including: Silver in 2009 and 2010 and Gold in 2011 at the GABF in the Southern German Hefeweizen category. As well he won the best of show with Hefeweizen at the Colorado state fair in 2011. (ABV 4.3% 12 IBU'S)

Crisp and refreshing, the dunkel is my favorite from Prost but everything I've had has been at least solid. Need more time having their stuff again. Just saw in my store they seem to be changing the name on the can to just say Hefeweizen now.

Poured from a can. Straw in color with a white head and hints of lacing. Smells earthy with hints of clove and a slight sweetness. Tastes of clove and hints of banana, nothing to strong that stands out it all works together really well.

Was looking for a German imported beer and grabbed this by mistake. Tastes like a feminine/hipster’s type of beer with sweet banana undertones. Looks full-bodied with minimal head. Not bad but not the classic German beer taste I was looking for.

Poured 12 oz. bottle into Pilsner glass. Half inch head that dilsoved in about half a minute.
No lacing at all. Beer was underwhelming. No date on bottle. Maybe I bought a bad bottle but I was not impressed. I do enjoy German brewed Hefeweizen beers but the one that I had was not indicative of the high ratings that this brand received here.

A- cloudy gold color with a huge frothy 5 finger head. bubbly and nice lacing on pint.
S- banana and banana with some wheaty esters.
F- banana and clove with wheat finish
M- sour esters with banana to coat the inside of the palate.
O- not a bad beer. leaves more to be desired but i like the banana complement of the clove.

Sizeable head initially, but it settles quickly with very large bubbles. It finishes with rim bubbles. A few spots on the glass. The color is dirty gold with a definitive cloudiness.
Soft and wheaty aroma. Light sour notes. Even lighter banana esters.
The carbonation is appropriately high but the body is uncharacteristically watery. The flavor mimics the smell with wheat being strongest and banana overtones. I do get a very small touch of sourness in the swallow. The aftertaste is short but traditional.
