An interesting buy: sealed growlers in a retail store (i.e., Coaltrain Wine & Liquor in Colorado Springs)...
The beer poured out a deep, ruby-red color with a thick, sticky head; plenty of spidery lacing down the glass. Robust, rich malt aroma makes up the bulk of the scent with additional hints of dark fruits; figs and prunes. The taste comes across delightfully full of caramel malt goodness with hints of fruity esters and a nice balance of hop bitterness. Full-bodied with a vinous character.
This beer appears to be a classic take for a classic German beer style. It's definitely a full-flavored beer and packed with a dynamite malt presence and well-tempered alcohol warmth.

Pours a mahogany-chestnut with a dirty creamy colored head. Aroma is super malty; bready, even a little doughy, raisons, and some kind of spiciness. Flavor followed suit with some nice doughiness, raisin bread, what reminded me of some maple, and some molasses. Not familiar enough with the style to be able to identify all that I tasted to be honest. Mouthfeel was medium bodied, creamy. Overall, a really enjoyable beer. I never let it warm to see how it might develop though.
