This bier is delicate and pale with less bitterness than a Pils and less sweetness than a Helles. A subtle fruitiness is the hallmark of this classic style from Köln. Along with Alt, this is one of the last ale holdouts in Germany. (ABV 4.6% 22 IBU'S)

12oz canned 11/29/22

On the pour one finger of fine head with dispersed larger bubbles quickly becomes a bit rocky and begins dissipating. Body is a touch hazy and is a deep gold. Carbonation is fine and plentiful. Very light lacing forms.

Aroma is nice and bready with a light sweetness, and some nice noble hops that make me think German Pilsner, but with a touch of appley kolsch yeast. This is pretty nice.

Flavor follows the aroma, but is a bit less sweet. Subtle but nice and bright apple/pear/floral notes are present. There is a slight hop bitterness that builds before a floral, herbal, and biscuity finish that is very pleasant. Perhaps a light and very subtle citrus flavor?

Feel is full and bready making this beer not quite as drinkable as a traditional lager, but the crispness of the flavor counteracts this a lot. Full malty and long mouthfeel and finish. Carbonation is plentiful here as well.

Overall this is a solid Kolsch! Comes off as not quite a lager, but it still feels like a legit German Style beer. Full but crisp malty and bright flavor, with a full mouthfeel. Tasty but very satisfying.

Very slightly hazy golden color with a substantial but short lived white head and some decent lacing.
The aroma is fresh sourdough or rye bread, some hints of citrus and floral hops.
The taste is sweet fresh bread, lemon. The finish is dry with lemon zest and light floral hops, nice balance.
The body is light, plentiful carbonation, smooth and very drinkable.
Altogether, this is a fairly tasty and refreshing brew, a very traditional German Kolsch and well worthwhile.

Had on tap. Crystal clear golden body with visible carbonation and tow fingers of white foam, solid lacing. Grains with sweet edges, honey malt, lemon peel and grassy hops in the nose. Taste has the cereal malt sweetness with grains, lemon zest, and grass, but has a hint of bloat to the back end that distracts. Feel has a higher level of carbonation for style, dries out nicely through the sip, thinner and crisp. Good for a hot day on the porch, otherwise there are more thoughtful kolsch out there

L- Pours with nice 2F head and mid gold 95% transparent color. Head fades fast and leave no lace.

N-Nice rye bread and medium malt aroma with a faint light caraway & cardamom notes.

T-Soft and creamy light malt flavor with a touch of light lemon tang. Hops are light and does not let the sweetness of the malt over power. As described it seems right in the middle of Helles white bread sweetness and Pilsner hopiness.

M- Soft carbonation that leans to the light side. Good clean mouthfeel with some fizz thickness that keeps the slickness from becoming too slippery.

O-Last time I had a Kolsch it was a bit sweeter tasting than this one. This is a really nice balanced beer and great for a lower alcohol break. I will be buying more.

L - clear as a bell for a Kolsch; good head, not much lacing, but at 4.8% who would expect a lot?
S - Fantastic sourdough citric apple; clean for days
T- taste the malts, motherf****er; more bread than a bakery, very nice apple-esque hoppy Kolsch characteristics, still smooth at the end however. Threatens too much hoppiness, then quickly backs off, kidding. In a traditional way. (That's good).
F - Great balance for this hybrid style; so many lean either too malty or too overdone on new American hops. This is proper.
O - A damn fine, affordable, and widely available six packer of classic Kolsch in cans? What's not to like. I'd crush a sixer of these on the front porch listening to accordions.
