650ml bottle, poured into half pint. 9.2% ABV - good to see an imperial IPA of this strength by an Aussie brewery (given the high tax on high strength beers here). This is the 2014 batch.

A - a touch more brown than amber, translucent, thin white fizzy head, poor head retention - its gone almost instantly.

S - pine and fresh grass, over a well mixed fruity (peach, guava, pineapple) aroma. Not overtly strong.

T - Potent resin with pine upfront, joined soon by slightly roasted malts and honey. A fruity hop bitterness (screaming guava to me) roars through until well after the last sip.

F - bit chewy upfront, then becomes what is a well balanced texture (not as dry as other Imperial IPAs). Full bodied, alcohol is there, but its not in your face. Longggg aftertaste.

O - quite enjoyable - its got a kick as you would expect, but the bitterness is fresh and not too overpowering.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 640 ml bottle on March 22, 2018. Brewed with a massive amount of four different US hop varieties, including Mosaic. Smell and taste is tropical, citrus and pine. A solid malt backbone, but not too much to ensure the hops take centre stage.

Big thanks to MrKennedy for this bottle and pours a clear golden amber hue with a creamy three finger head and similar clingy lacing everywhere, the smell is tropical fruit, candy and piney hops, the feel is full bodied with slight carbonation which suits and the tastes are exactly what you smell its like a mixture of tropical fruit salad, piney hops, nectarines, a slight touch of sweet toffee before a tangerine bitter finish and overall a nice drop that hides its big ABV very well cheers.

The best Australian double/imperial IPA I have had so far - well balanced, full of flavour and scarily easy to drink for the alcohol content!

aroma: grapefruit, orange and slight passionfruit

taste: orange, grapefruit, spice/pepper, stone fruit, apricot, pine, stewed fruit, slight passionfruit and orange candy with a hint of smoke. Malt balances it well but hops stand-out, as they should.
Tastes better as it opens/warms up.

Second batch of this, tried on tap at Spooning Goats.

Pours an amber colour, off-white head, foamy with visible bubbles, retains well. Bit paler than expected but decent.

Hoppy mpse; huge citrus and resin, pine, decent malt backing but all about the sharp resinous hops.

Taste is all about hops too. Resinous, lemon pith, grapefruit, pine wood, and grated orange zest. Acidic almost, but well-controlled not to spiral out of control. Would personally like a bit more malt backing.

Smooth, full. Not a trace of alcohol really. Great

Nice, well controlled double IPA. Not my pure cup of tea but very good.

From brewery.

A - light gold, clear body, one finger head dies to film. Swirl revives it nicely with spotty lace.

S - big big tropical fruits, mango, peach.

T - more tropical fruits, mango, apricots, huge malt backbone means a delight to drink. Noticeable lack of citrus/pine archetypal DIPA flavours. Almost sweet-ish. Hops on back palate but not sharp in any way.

M - medium weight, almost thick in some ways. Not oily. Light carbonation as you would expect from growler. Would be higher score I supect if not from a growler.

O - big and bold, but oh so drinkable. Sensational stuff. This is a really balanced big beer, and the alcohol is so well disguised it is dangerous. One of the best beers currently available in Australia.

World class.

EDIT and revised scoring after having in bottle. Much better head and mouthfeel from bottle than growler. As you would expect :-)

Tried on-tap at Spooning Goats in Sydney.

Pours a bright yellow colour, with brilliant clarity. There's some weight to the body but it's super fluid even so. Head forms a gauzy cap of white that leaves a little lacing in filmy streaks. Carbonation is fine and looks intense when the glass is tilted.

Nose is insane—and no doubt helped by the fact that this beer is extremely fresh. Huge, crisp and bright with a wonderful fresh hop intensity. Lemon zest, crisp sharp fruit with an underlying mango and green papaya richness. Clean chewy malt characters give it a sweet basis underneath. Absolutely brilliant stuff. On par with the best US examples in my opinion.

Taste is also fantastic. Extremely smooth entry with some sweetness coming through well, but the overall impression is bright, sharp, stunningly clean and drinkable. It's insane. Hops come through crisply on the back, leaving a slight bitter linger and zesty after taste. It's so fresh, so clean, and astoundingly well balanced.

Feel is awesome too: silky, marble-like, but light enough to allow you to keep drinking it.

This is phenomenal stuff: right now, I think it's the equal of beers like Pliny. It's super-fresh, super-good, and super-drinkable. Have it now. Whatever it takes.
