Now that I have begun really diving into the Bottle backlog here at Chez Woody, I am unstoppable! Yes, it means suspending The CANQuest (tm) for the moment, but the thought of being rid of these pesky bottles for once & for all is so heartening that I almost do not have words. These next bunch were all purchases through Tavour & as I have said repeatedly, I have no real beef with them. It was their inflexible local shipper + the continual adding to the backlog that led me to part ways.
From the Bottle: "Imperial Rye India Pale Ale"; ""thanks! Thank you for choosing Reuben's! We hope you enjoy drinking this brew as much as we enjoyed crafting it. Come visit our taproom to imbibe our tasty brews, meet our brewers and become a part of the Reuben's Brews family. [undersigned] [X, X]"; "80+ IBU"; "Notes: Our rye-based Imperial IPA. A dry-hopped citrus explosion leads to a smooth medium body, with rye spice in the finish."
I Pop!ped the cap & started a slow, gentle C-Line pour into the awaiting glass. It foamed beautifully to form two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with very good retention. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose was redolent with the spicy, peppery peppermint-evergreen mintiness that is a hallmark of Rye! I would almost argue for a change to a Rye Beer, but it is just above the parameters in terms of both its ABV & IBUs. 8=( Mouthfeel was big, thick, full & creamy, like a dollop had been scooped into my mouth & onto my tongue. The taste was unquestionably rye-based with a brilliant spiciness along with a cool mintiness. Mmm. Finish was cool & dry, but very drinkable, making it kinda dangerous. YMMV.

On tap at Bailey's Upper Lip the other night.
The beer pours a copper amber color with good head retention and lacing. The rye really shows up big time on the nose, and it seemed to give added oomph to the considerable orange citrus and sweet malt I picked up. The flavor profile was more of the same, but the I thought the sweetness, coupled with the rye flavor, was a bit overdone. It really tended to dominate the bitterness in the finish of this beer. There was also some noticeable heat on the finish, which I thought was likely magnified by the sweet malt and rye in this beer. Mouthfeel was medium bodied to full, but with the alcohol on the finish marring this beer's drinkability.
Not a bad beer, but I wasn't so in love with it that I can ever see myself ordering this again any time soon.

22oz bottle served in a large mug. I stopped pouring when I saw heavy sediment start coming out. 155 D-1 1703 is printed on the bottom, which is meaningless to me. Might be from the bottle manufacturer instead of the brewery. 07.07.16 is printed on the label.
Pours slightly hazy amber with tiny head and a surprisingly large amount of carbonation. Smell is nice spicy rye-ness with nice hoppy aromas. Honeysuckle, floral, and citrus rind. Some pine.
Taste is dominated by the piney bitterness for me, but with a nice rye accent. Surprisingly strong sweetness to balance the bitterness. Nice and enjoyable.
Mouthfeel is thick and chewy, but a little flat. Overall, nice beer.

Another super slick concoction from the masterful Reuben's here in Seattle.
L: Fine! Very fine.
S: Sharp, intoxicating, exotic citruis and grain wafts into a bready melange of spice and rich malt, all very familiar, yet all brand new.
T: Clean, balanced, strong rye IPA with its own stylistic twist. It's really exquisite and resides above any verbal jabs which fall short beside the experience itself.
F: Feels like a dream. This is where the beer takes off and really becomes its own. It's one of those that upon first sipping you think, you feel, "this is a beer," and in this moment, do you in fact forget its style entirely. Trumps (lol) Bear Republic's Hop Rod Rye by a tiny margin with a more artful flavor and feel arc, and with ever so slightly less bitterness.
O: This is a good one guys. Strong, strong Rye IPA. imperial, in fact. Reuben's on a roll, and so is its Imperial rye ipa
