Had on tap at Reuben's. Review from notes.
A: Pours a nice looking black with a small tan colored head on top, rather tight with slow dissipation to a thin cap. Moderate lacing.
S: Rather oat forward with some nice roast with some light chocolate. Hints of dark fruit and caramel.
T: Similar to the aroma. Nice chocolate flavor with a bit of cream upfront with a nice flake oat flavor. A little bit of vanilla right at the end.
M: Medium bodied, smooth and slightly creamy. Has a bit of a dry finish.
O: A very nice beer. Liked how present the oats were.

on-tap, at the brewery
WBC silver medal - served in a large 12oz goblet - ebony body, light mocha ring. Roasted oats, an abundance of flavorful coffee and rich chocolate, dark fruit, roasted malt. Creamy and smooth - a really nice stout and deserving of the acclaim.

Poured into a Reuben's Brew snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with a thin tan head that dissipates to patchy foam and a thin ring around the glass that leaves light lacing. Aroma of toasted malt, chocolate; slightly vegetal. Flavor is also toasted and biscuit malt, chocolate and coffee with some slight dark fruit notes. An interesting mixture of toasted and malted milk ball malt flavors and some light grassy hops and a hint of char in the finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess and peppery carbonation. A very nice oatmeal stout with the rich body and dense flavor saturation that seem to come with well made oatmeal stouts. There is an atypical but pleasant maltiness in the finish that kept me interested. Nice, as expected from this brewer.

On tap into a 4oz sampler glass @ the brewery. Pours an opaque black w/ a minimal tan head.
Aroma leads off with chocolate and dark roasted malt
Taste is a blend of chocolate, dry dark roasted malt and coffee. Some faint dark fruit and caramel notes. Great balance of flavors, nothing overdone or out of sync.
Mouthfeel is smooth and dry, medium-bodied, balanced. Like drinking a chocolate milkshake.
Overall a nicely crafted imperial stout.
