There was a time when all dark beers had a smoky flavor. Grains were traditionally roasted over an open flame. Then technology took over. Blank Slate’s Smoked Porter pays homage to those early days. Unlike many traditional smoke beers which are smoked with Beechwood, Fume uses Cherrywood smoked malt which gives this Brown Porter a very refined smoke character with a unique flavor profile.

Poured from the 12 oz can into a snifter via a friend from work---Thanks Randy!
This nice porter pours a medium dark brown with amber highlights and a nice head
of off white foam that settles to a thick ring, thin light pool, and showcases some nice light
lacing. Nose of light campfire and a touch of chocolate with some light sweet malts. Flavors
lightly pull away from the nose with chocolate and moderate smoke with a touch of light
sugar notes and a whisper of earthy hops. Decent mouth feel; medium light body,
medium low carbonation, and a dry smoky finish.
Overall, a decent take on a porter.

Pours a deep brown to black with a thumb widths light tan head. Nose is of deep smokey and roasted malts. First sip you immeadiatly get the smoked and toasted malts. It is fairly robust with a nice chalky dry chocolate flavor and a almost discernible cherrywood smoked characteristic. A little light on body for how roasty and smoked the beer is. A dry bakers chocolate finish. Pretty interesting beer. Cheers
