On-tap at the Boulder downtown brewpub. An English style IPA so understated hops expected, but this was extreme. Hazy medium grapefruit fruity colour, supposedly East kent hops. Barley-yeast aromas, almost no head.More a malt story, where's the hops?

The beer pours a cloudy dark gold color with a 1/2" white head that fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a grainy pale and crystal malt scent along with an English noble hop aroma. The taste is good. It has a nice malty base that boasts of pale and carapils malts along with a dry English bitter finish. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a pretty good IPA. It's mild and easy drinking; a fine sessions beer.

An Engllish IPA, no doubt. Made with Kent hops from the UK. I wonder if this is bitter.
Pours Amberish, 1/2 finger head. A bit thin, yet rocky.
Smells of sweet malt and, yup, that English bitterness. Wow, what a representation of the English ale. Creamy, butterscotch texture and slight taste. Bitter, but not biting. Kinda smooth in places. Would like to see this served a bit warmer. Very nice though.

On tap at the Vine St. Pub. Nice orange color with a small white head but very good lacing down the glass. It smells a little hoppy. Taste is hoppy, a weird copper-penny taste followed by a maltiness that smoothed it out. I guess this is more of an english-style IPA but as good as their FYIPA is I don't really understand why they make this one.

Orange. Moderately aromatic, hop driven in the aroma (grapefruit, resin, pine) and a slight, hidden malt presense. In terms of flavor, this is again hop driven but it is suprisingly balanced. The hops showcase pine, orange, grapefruit and resin. The malt doesn’t have many characteristics but does balance this well.

Haziness graced the liquid, tawny-bronze in hue with a coppery highlight. The head was off-white in color, it was served with a finger of head, and it quickly faded to a soapy cap. There was some minimal spotty lace. Overall, the appearance was very pleasant. Thumbs up.

The nose is hoppy with citrus, cheese, earth and a kiss of lemon and honey. The potency is mild. It does not say “UK IPA” but that is okay. Light maltiness plus there is a smattering of fruit underneath the hops. It really doesn’t say much, specifically. It surely doesn’t say “IPA” to me. Inviting, nevertheless.

The palate is agreeable. There is pronounced malty sweetness with honey, caramel, lightly fruity with a piney-citrus-cheese hop blend that plays nicely with all the other flavors. Long hop bite. Hot. Lazy yet crisp because the malt doesn’t drag on and there is a cutting bite of alcohol. It is a perfect combination with the spicy-hot house salsa. To me this is not a true IPA (UK or USA); it is like a hoppy Pale Ale with a juicy malt backbone. It is very good no matter, why should I try to categorize it.

Healthy medium in body, moderately low carbonation, natural and fitting. The mouthfeel fits this beer very well.

I’d drink this hot mess very often if I could. It really hits the spot… I realize it is not perfect but it is not flawed either. It is what it is. I like it. Sampled at the brewpub.

This IPA is a copper color and present a nice tan head. The nose has a big hop presence while som equite malts hide in the back. The taste has a nice hop presence, but I would like to see more malts. A medium body sits well on the palate. A decent IPA, just not the comlpexity I look for in this style.

Stopped in here a couple pints and to meet a fellow BA while visiting Boulder in the fall of 2004. I ordered this IPA expecting a nice hopy treat and was disappointed with my serving.

Presented a half-finger head head which hung around for half of the glass. Dark amber in color with a woody or grassy hop smell and a non-descript sweet beneath. I like to pick out various fruits, but couldn't put my finger on anything here.

Taste: A rough bitter umph without the right malt or carbonation combination to back it up. It was medium-bodied, which laid the foundation for an interplay of flavors, but I just didn't get a nice blend. Perhaps some caramel, but nothing that tamed the pine-bark hop flavor into a new twist.

I drank the whole thing, because I paid for it, but I would never order another. They have to make some other beer that I'd enjoy much better. Sorry guys.

I had this on nitro at the Vine Street Pub in Denver.

Appearance: A hazy orange red color. One finger creamy looking head that leaves nice retention as the beer is drank

Smell: very sweet and bready malts followed by citrus and grapefruit and mango and pineapple.

Taste: creamy pineapple, mangos, grapefruit. Sweet malts and some bitterness towards the end.

Mouthfeel: creamy smooth, full bodied, low carbonation, and silky deliciousness.

Overall: they will be making thus beer on site here soon, but it comes from their sister brewery in Boulder. A nice take of an IPA on nitro. Very interestingly good.

Delusion resident? Pours a more darker copper color with good clarity. Arrived with a limited head but frothy. Decent retention and lacing but did die out over time.

The nose overall is ok but lacking overall depth and English influence. Some hoppy aromas with a light grapefruit, pine and a touch of earthiness. More of an American pale/ipa feel. Some malty presences with more of a generic malt. Not much caramel at all.

The flavor is much better than the nose. The hop and malt is balanced more. The malts are still limited with some sweeter generic flavors but some lighter caramel does shine through. Limited in flavor, but this does allow the hops to come out more. Some grapefruit and citrus comes out up front, which is more US, but some lighter earthy hops in the finish. There is a bit of DMS but really no off yeast flavors.

The body has a mid feel to it. Really smooth and easy to drink. Light on carbonation which helps the English side come out. Overall an enjoyable beer but doesn't fit style but is still good.

I was not blown out of the water. On the other hand it was a damn good beer that wasn't over hopped which is essential for me in an IPA (unless they can manage to balance it out somehow).
I would recommend getting a taster of it while youre there, doesnt cost anything.
