Stout month at vine street. A dark pour, near black, perhaps a bit light on the edges. Soapy brown head had some good lacing, looked a bit chocolatey.
Coffee and burnt caramel in the nose, some cocoa and plum. Taste bordered on strong influence of coffee, but it sweetened up a bit with some fruitiness. Caramel, cocoa and brown sugar in the back..
Good snap to it in the end, good finish.

One of six stouts we shared last night at the Vine Street Pub during Stout Month. Poured from the tap a shiny black color, with a thinnish white head. Aromas of coffee, oats and roasted malt. Medium bodied and silky, with coffee, roasted malt and oats.

Near balck color with a silky tan head. Good retention and lacing.

Aromas of complex malts and candy. Some floral hops, dark fruits and bitter molasses.

A delicious blend of sweet oats, buttery malts and ripe dark fruit all surrounded by bitter earthy hops.

A thick body with just enough carbonation. One of the best oatmeal stouts I have ever had. Nice job on this one Sub.

Had this on-tap at the Mountain Sun Pub

Nearly opaque, lots of lacing.
Spicy nose

Excellent bitter but smoothed out overall.

Clean feel with more carbonation than many stouts.

7.5% ABV according to the pub menu.

This is one to seek out if you're at Mountain or Southern Sun.

I really like this stout. I've become a bit spoiled by so many imperial stouts that something with a lower abv doesn't pack a flavor punch I want. This is still a strong beer (7% abv, I believe), but it's not in the 10-20% range of imperials. That said, I feel this does pack in a lot of flavor and aroma and is very smooth. Heavily roasted malt with notes of chocolate and caramel and coffee come through beautifully, but commingle in a way that creates nice complexity. The oat evens everything out and gives it fantastic body. I wish this was a year-rounder at the pubs. Oh and the name is great too!
