to me this one is like a not as good longtrail blackbeary. it pours an artificial looking pinkinsh color without much head but a lot of rising bubbles. I smell a lot of blackberry here, pureed, with a heavy dose of wheat malt and a plentiful ale yeast that gives the whole thing some attitude. I taste fruit that's sweet like jam or preserves, not as off the vine fresh as it could be, but a nice contrast to the tannic wheat malt and biscuit yeast. finish is a combination of spent yeast and blackberry, not totally delicious but not as off as it sounds. tons of carbonation and a lot more body that you usually get in one of these fruited wheats, its kind of a weird sensation. overall a reasonable beer for the ladies and for summertime, but far from mountain suns best work.

First had: on tap at their brewpub

Poured a delightful lavender color, cloudy, with a happy white head that retained fairly well. Smell was pretty nice: yeast, wheat, fresh-picked berries. Taste was a bit disappointing and a good reminder that the rule with brewing with blackberries generally is: they contribute to color, not so much to taste. Berry flavor was very subdued--I know it shouldn't be overwhelming, but it was hardly noticeable, and if not for the aroma and color, I might not have known is was a fruit beer at all. Otherwise, a fine wheat profile, acidic, with crisp, light hops and some subtle citrus. Light mouthfeel, dry finish, a bit harsh for me. Not bad overall, but a sampler was good enough.

On-tap at Mountain Sun's Vine St Pub. Served in a pint glass.

A: Cloudy apricot with a dense white cap. Head retention is quite good. Some lace is left behind.

S: Rather fruity from the blackberries. It also has a pronounced raw wheat scent. The sweetness is ever so slightly medicinal.

T: Tart and dry with a yeasty bite. Blackberries are there with a mild dark fruit flavor. Finishes rather clean.

M: Light body is a bit watery. Carbonation feels about right.

D: Nice session beer. Nice to try, but not quite up my alley in the taste department.

Interesting looking beer, pinkish hue to both the head and the beer itself. Smells pretty subtle, wheat. The taste has a nice berry flavor towards the back without being tart and is incredibly easy to drink. Good beer and didn't feel like it had much alcohol.
