served up on nitro at vine street, this is a tasty and real easy drinking beer, my only issue with it is that its pretty under flavored for an esb type and is probabaly more correctly labeled a mild. i sometimes think beers served on nitro are less flavorful anyway, and that is the case here. nothing at all wrong with this one, that comes out real blonde and milky creamy from the nitro, just that it doesnt have a whole lot going on and absolutely lacks the grain depth i like to see in my esb. none of the toasty or nutty grains here at all, instead more of an english pale type malt. the yeast isnt real flavorful either, not like the english style beers i am used to anyway. i have often thought these guys did a better job with the belgian stuff than the english. i love how creamy and light this is, satisfying, refreshing, expansive, lively, and very fresh. sometimes a mild beer like this is just the right thing, and i could see this being a great session beer in certain contexts, but there really isnt much malt flavor in here at all. a big creamy glass of ale though is always welcome, even if its a little bland. good as a beer, bad as an esb, at least in my opinion.

On nitro at Vine St. Looks great, creamy head, nitro is sort of cheating though if you ask me. Aroma is boring crackers and malt. Flavor was a let down, just bland malts and boring. No toffee or crumpets as advertised. Overall this was very bland and average, it didn't taste bad but I wish I'd ordered something else.
