500ml can. Another of the similar-looking German lager offerings gracing the shelves everywhere around here, seemingly now and forever.
This beer pours a clear, somewhat pale golden straw hue, with three fingers of puffy, densely foamy off-white head, which dissipates rather slowly, leaving a few instances of sea plume lace around the glass as it steadily recedes.
It smells of toasty, crackery, grainy cereal malt, a subtle black pepper essence, and meekly bitter floral, leafy noble hops. The taste is fairly crisp, saltine cracker cereal malts, warm, indistinct citrus, and a spicy flourish of sassy, kind of spicy native German hops - not quite Saaz, but close.
The carbonation is on the low side, sure, but hardly out of the game entirely, the body a decent medium weight, with a concurrent, generally unadulterated smoothness. It finishes a tad off-dry, with the malty cereal character persisting among a further bit of lingering green, spicy hops.
A fairly drinkable, well balanced German Pils. Like its brethren, there is only so much you can say about these offerings. I could see myself enjoying more than a few of these, in a tied house, Oktoberfest-related or not.

From 07/10/14 notes. Poured into a pilsner glass.
a - Pours a crystal clear bright yellow color with one finger of fluff white head and moderate carbonation evident.
s - Smells of grains, bready malts, wheat, German malts, earthy notes, dough, and biscuit malts. Nice nose, lots of bread and grains.
t - Tastes of grains, bready malts, light floral hops, earthy malts, dough, bsicuit malts, and wheat. Little step up from the nose, a little more flavor here. Nice.
m - Light, crisp body and low to moderate carbonation. Easy to drink.
o - Overall a nice, crisp, easy drinking pilsner. Nothing mind blowing but solid and what I was looking for.
