Poured into a pint glass on 4/5/10

Best before the end of Aug 2010

Very clear, uniform light-yellow. Pours a one finger head that dissipates quickly to a modest skim. Not much in the way of lacing so far; this sets the standard for the duration.

The aroma is pretty good; very earthy, grainy & floral. Notes of hay, fresh cut grass, toasted malt & hops. Hints of airy floral sweetness. Not particularly murky.

The taste isn't bad though it seems more jumbled than the nose. A subtle hop bitterness is noticeable upfront & melds into a spiciness that makes me think white pepper. There are grassy & grainy notes, too but they are not nearly as inviting as with the aroma. Toasty malts remain in the back but are no less sturdy.

Light bodied with moderate carbonation; it's reasonably zesty but far from the sharp crispness one might expect. I think it suits the beer well enough. The finish is essentially clean, with just a few grassy notes lingering.

Drinkability is pretty decent. My only complaint is that is gets more muddled as it warms which causes it to seem a little bland. Other than that, it's around average.

Pours a perfectly clear golden straw with one finger of paper white head that sports decent retention and leaves a good amount of sticky lace.

A good balance between buttered malts and biscuit with light floral hops and fresh grass with a wet citrus zest in the middle. A bit more malt than other German pilsners I've had, but that doesn't take away from the beer.

Zesty orange zestyness is the first thing that hits the palate and is followed by a pleasantly bitter floral hop presence. The buttery and biscuit malts play as more of a backbone, adding a nice balance to the beer.

Mouthfeel is light and smooth. That carbonated/hoppy bite that I associate with the style is very, very subdued, making for quite the quaffer.

Overall, a good, clean German pilsner. I think it's one that I needed to sit down and review to appreciate its qualities, because I could see myself thinking this is just another beer if I was drinking from a can with friends.

Of the three pilseners I've had tonight, this one looks the best, with the fairest golden color, the tallest and most structured white head, and the best head retention. Nice aroma as well, with some really pleasant, almost rye-like whole grain notes, graham crackery sweetness, and subtle cress-ish hops. Nicely fresh and grainy flavour as well, kinda like chewing on a kernel of barley malt and all the sweetness and tang that ensues. Sharp but not too sharp hops, with a flavor of hay and lemon rind, balance things out and contribute to an overall refreshing character emphasised by a dry finish and full carbonation. A very nice, robust German pilsener that could just about be called exemplary.

.5L emptied into a Pokal.

A: Pours straw gold with a fluffy 2-finger white head which slowly receeds to a thick ring. Generous lacing throughout.

S: Grassy hops, bread malts.

M: Medium bodied with good carbonation.

T: Hops are readily apparent. Barley malt nicely balances the spicy hops. Clean and crisp. Aftertaste lingers and invites another sip from the drinker.

D: Very drinkable. Nothing really stands out, but this is a really high quality beer that relies on the ingredients and brewing art, just as it should be.

Radeberger Pilsner has a very clear, gold body that has some moderate sized carbonation bubbles moving upwards toward about two fingers of white foamy head. The head settles down to a ring on top of the beer, and it looks like frothed milk. Retention is pretty good and the lacing isn't bad either.

The aroma is filled with noble hops, but it isn't very powerful.

Radeberger tastes like it is packed with noble hops too, but the flavor delivers the strength that the aroma is lacing. A pale, cracker-like malt sits beneath spicy, earthy, skunky noble hops.

The mouthfeel is very light and very highly carbonated, with a quick, dry finish.

I'm not sure what caused me to pick up Radeberger Pilsner for the first time, but I'm glad I did. Very refreshing.

This is a good pils and definitely can be a good session beer. i've got a cold so rating the smell is a bit tough but the flavor is there, sharp and crisp with a very good golden color. Pours a good thick head and the lacing is pretty good. Definitely would buy again as many Pils I've had lately miss the mark.

Pours very pale gold, no haze, and a large white creamy head that retains nicely at first but recedes to a thin layer. Laces well too. Nose has some light skunk, faint herbal hops, and a cereal-malty component. The clean malty component comes through on the palate with lightly herbal hops near the end and onto the finish.

Pours golden yellow from the bottle with a small head that goes quick.
Earthy smell with some hops and malt
Taste wise This is a very refreshing German beer with a mild mix of Hops and malt balanced perfectly.
It is very Pleasing in your mouth and it is a very drinkable beer this one was given me by my friends at the Beer Distributor I will be getting some more of this some time in the future.
All in all a beer you can sit down and enjoy a few for sure. Give it a try if you want something that is smooth and tasty!

First time I've seen this. Bought at Atwater SAQ.

A- Very pale yellow topped with a cute white 1/4 inch head. Lacing is present. Very small bubbles.
S- Smells like a good number of german pilsners. Lacks personality. Smell is weak compared to some others. Looks refreshing can't wait to taste.
T- Very watery. Tastes like a quality light beer. Think any other basic german pils and add water. Grainy bitter water. EDIT: After cleansing my palate with some fried fish! and allowing it to warm a bit: I taste some very good hops. Subtle but worth mentioning. I am changing my 2.5 taste rating accordingly. Much better. Reminds me (I'm not exaggerating it just reminds me) of an IPA type hopping.
M- Thin but a bit viscous. Medium carbonation.
D- Very high just because you don't feel satisfied. You have to take very big sips to really taste it.

Probably never buying this again. At least not as long as Wernesgruner, Bitburger or Konig are around.
Not much fun to drink. I like something with more character. Boring. I am disappointed though I didn't expect much. Nice looking can though. EDIT: After cleansing my palate with some fried fish! and allowing it to warm a bit: This beer is okay and if I find it at a reasonable price similar to Wernesgruner, Bitburger and Konig Pilsen I will buy it again.
This just goes to show you (or me...) just how different a beer can taste and feel depending on what you've had beforehand.

A - standard golden-clear pilsner color, although this may be richer in color than most, substantial head that lasts a while and leaves a good bit of lacing
S - bitter hops, but not overbearingly so, bread malts, maybe a tiny bit of floral notes
T - Bitter hops on the earthier side of grassy, light bready malt backing, no skunkiness to speak of
M - light/medium bodied and refreshing feel, creamy head gives it a smooth finish
D - very drinkable. I could toss more than a few of these back. great with some beer battered chicken mmmm

This is a good German Pilsner beer. It is light in color and in light in body but is very refreshing and tasty. Excellent served chilled, this beer is a good companion to German foods, and I have found it to be very well paired with Japanese Sushi. I enjoyed this beer very much. It is hard to find a good Pilsner.

look: 2.5 | smell: 2.5 | taste: 2 | feel: 2 | overall: 2

Appearance - This is a piss yellow in color with little of the head that other reviewers mentioned.

Smell - The delicate hope aroma that I've come to expect from the style was overbearing and heavy-handed in this example. The grain was rough and unpleasing.

Taste - The hops came through better at the taste but the grain left a nasty, almost rotten aftertaste that ruined the drinking experience.

Mouthfeel - This was light-bodied but felt heavy on the tongue due to the lack of quality carbonation.

Sinkability - I've got much better things to do in my life than finish this dud.

This is a good generic German pilsner. It's very pale with an impressive head and lots of lace, moderate carbonation, and the smell is pretty grassy.

The taste is of distinctly bitter and earthly hops and a grain flavor the whole way through, with a bit of citrus Mouthfeel is light and well-carbonated, adds up to a decent session beer (especially .65 cents plus Pfand for half a liter!) but nothing too memorable.

On tap at The Little Pub in Ridgefield CT. Served in an authentic Radeberger pils glass.

Pours very nice golden yellow with a minimal amount of white foam. Smells clean, with just a hint of hop.

Taste is clean, crisp, everything a German pils should be. Absolutely delicious. Goes down smooth and fast, but still has plenty of taste. Just the right amount of carbonation in the mouthfeel.

Could drink barrels of this stuff. Nothing out of the ordinary, just an extremely well made German pils.

Served from a 500ml bottle. Pours a pale medium gold with a moderate head; it quickly dissipates, but it leaves impressive lacing on glass. Smell is very faint malty character, and while inoffensive, it's definitely underwhelming. Taste is slightly offputting, with not much character, but also an odd dryness or bitterness that lingers on the back of the tongue. Not a bad beer, but certainly not among my favorites of the style.

Reviewed from notes. Consumed a few hours earlier.

A- Pours a clear, straw color with a white two finger head.

S- Spicy hop and yeasty notes with grain.

T- Pretty bland grain upfront with a spicy and bitter hop finish.

M- Pretty thin bodied and watery with pretty high carbonation.

D- Pretty easy drinking but the taste detracts from this for me. Not one I would I go back to.

12oz into Chimay goblet.

A- A great, fresh-powder first-tracks white head that settles nicely. As white as any head I've ever seen. Beer is a nice mild golden yellow color.

S- Floral hops, pale malt, very much like lilac and very inviting.

T- Crisp, mild floral notes, hops are very faint in body but very nice in taste. Pale malt is in fact pale... just a platform for the floral hops. Very nice, crisp, and overall satisfying.

M- Crisp, great carbonation, excellent. Textbook pilsner.

D- High. Keep 'em coming, I can drink these all day long. Light enough to session with just enough flavor to cut through many a food pairing. I really like this beer. Not as hop-forward as some of the US pilsners, but it is great in its own right.

Growler pour from DeCiccio's in Ardsley, NY. This one flows out quite clear, light, near straw, capped by a near white puffed up head. Tiny bubble film, sheeting ring and slippery fine lace. Unexciting nose, just a hint of grass and lime. Clean tasting pils, German hops, crisp and dry. Some more light lime and an unremarkable finish. Run of the mill pilsner.

A-A nice dark straw color with a pure white fluffy head that lingers around for awhile. Lacing kind of slumps to the side of the glass as I sip.

S-I like the smell of this. Its robust. You can definetly smell the hops coming through as you pour. It smells very clean.

T-To me there is a dominant unpleasent bitterness to this beer which makes it hard to swallow. I can taste some grains in the background but the bitterness cuts it out quickly.

M- Average carbonation slighlty watered down just your average pils.

D- I bought a case of these at Costco. I had a few and didnt touch the rest of them until I had company coming over and I put them out. My guests seemed ok with it but I honestly dont think I would buy this again.

Pours a nice tellow color with an intense head. Nice, playful carbonation. Pretty good looking beer. Nice lacing.

The smell is fairly typical for the style. Nice crisp and bready notes.

Tastes pretty good, a little above average. Nice crisp pilsnery taste. Malts, grains, and a little bitter finish.

In the mouth it is fairly smooth with a nice amount of carbonation. Crisp finish.

Nicely drinkable. I would dub this the second most drinkable pilsner at work. Sure, it's not saying much, but it's good.

Poured from the bottle into a pilsner glass. Careful when pouring this beer, i made the mistake of being sloppy and got tons of foam at first.

A-a very vibrant deep straw color with a little haze near the head but clearer below. a decent head with average retention and nice sticky lacing at first, seems to weaken as you drink i admit.

S-I was expecting a stronger aroma that the appearance suggests, theres definitely a maltyness to it, subtle flowery hops, definitely a lager yeast. its fresh, clean and crisp.

T-hops hit the tongue right off, bitter but well balanced by the malts and subtle fruit (grape?), nice and crisp, the malts allow for something to desire after the bitterness once it goes down.

M-crisp of course, somewhat heavy for a pils but the smoothness and carbonation make it feel medium in the mouth, goes down nice and easy and smooth, leaves you feeling refreshed, a good beer to drink with a traditional german meal.

D-overall i would say this is by far one of my favorite beers to drink with dinner, it seems to compliment almost any style of food and quenches your thirst while inspiring your BA side. excellent pils.

Was fortunate enough to obtain a fresh case at Costco, as part of their autumnal offerings. This is a very good, no-nonsense German pilsner. I poured this into a non-stem pils glass, but with foil wrapper below the cap, this beer is perfect to drink from the 1/3 liter, brown bottle. Although the golden bubbles are fun to look at, this beer is unpretentiously designed to be consumed happily. You know sometimes a good beer is simply that.
