I had this beer in morro bay at the hofbrau restaurant. i had not heard of the beer, but was willing to give it a go. i asked for a taste and was immediately hooked. this is one of the most bitter and hoppy brews i have tried. it leaves a bitter aftertaste on your palette making you want to have more.
this beer was so good at hofbrau that i seeked out the brewery in paso robles, california. the brewery is a beautiful location slightly off the beaten path with a warehouse feel, a fountain, interior bar and outside picnic tables.
i am a bit jealous of a brewery who has managed to be able to create many beers that i can enjoy. i wish i had the talent that BHBC does.
A - The ale is a golden color typical of an ipa.
S - nice and citris, pine, IPA ish.
T - This is the high point. a nice easy bitterness that does not stop. even long after the taste.
M - nice full mouth.
Congratulations BHBC on a fine beverage.

The beer poured a light copper color with a fingers worth of a bright white head that left great lacing. The aroma was of orange, lemon and pine needles. The taste had an immediate blast of bitterness on the front of the tongue followed by citrus, mango and pine needles and finished fairly dry with a nice rich malt backbone and lingering bitterness. Overall a nice example of a West Coast IPA.

IPA deserves this perfect score. Balance and depth send it over the edge above all other IPAs. Outstanding malt and caramel notes contrast perfectly the sharp bitterness and flow synergistically with the floral fruit forward topical hop nose. For me this is my paragon.

Served out of a 22oz bomber into a tulip glass.
No bottle date. Yet it was new to the store and there was no fuzz or sediment at the bottom of the bottle indicating freshness.
Appearance was gorgeous. Even my wife said "oh that's pretty"
Smell is what hit me first. Exactly what I look for in an IPA. Personally I'm a double and triple IPA guy. So even though the smell was great I actually expected the ...
Taste to let me down. Boy was I surprised with this one. Awesome balanced crisp sweet hop fruit pine bitter flavor profile.
Mouthfeel on an IPA isn't a deal breaker for me. This one is good one. I like the dryness. Good carbonation. A bit thin, but it's not a big deal.
Overall, one of the best single IPA's I've had.

This beer has exactly what I'm looking for in an IPA; Fruity hoppy nose up front, crisp mouth feel and that hoppy attention grabbing finish making me look forward to the next sip.
Warning though, this bad boy will get you walkin' crooked real quick. This is another must try from BHBC.

Solid IPA from one of my local breweries.
The look is an orange, amber, with nice lacing. The aroma is hoppy, pine, fruit bowl. The taste is bitter, mango, as they say, and it's dank. The malt doesn't over power the hop goodness. Tropical fruit taste all around. Overall, good IPA, one that I could drink over and over again.

What a warm, roasty, and tasty IPA. Lots of hops but a quite moderate bitterness. Lovely aroma of pine and grilled pineapple.
Color is a thoroughly orange shade of amber with plenty of foam in the St. Bernardus globe. Pleasantly sudsy in the mouth with a medium body. Malty and moderately sweet and allows the roasted malt flavor to play along with the fruity hops. Clean and silky mouthfeel with some tang, but not the usual acid bite of many IPAs.
Really drinkable. The maltiness is like a dial-back double IPA. So rich it tastes like it must be stronger than it really is. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Bottlecraft in San Diego.

On tap at Malibu Sundownder Tasting Room in Westlake Village, CA.
Pours a clear copper with a foamy beige head that settles to a film on top of the beer. A foamy curtain of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus zest, and peppery, herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest and slight herbal flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty but the mouthfeel is off in my opinion.
