Clear amber, the classic color with a decent white foam in the Ommegang chalice. Aromatics of gardenia and spice.
What a rich, powerful flavor with a bitter finish that seems just right. Fruity mango and apricot flavors, what I love about this hop. The rye is grainy and spicy with that distinctive taste. It starts out sweet and rolls toward the sourish. Bitter aftertaste in line with the IPA style.
This tastes like such a gigantic beer it's hard to believe it's just the standard IPA strength. The grainy-fruity flavor is really inviting. I don't know why this isn't in the Rye category, but it's one of the best IPAs I've had this year. A good reason to look for Ritual brews. From the 22 oz botle purchased at Bottlecraft - North Park in San Diego.

Bottle I brought to share at Wowcoolman's tasting.
Pours a clear gold with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, rye, citrus zest, and dirty berry aromas. Taste is much the same with spicy rye and citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with hop qualities that come through better in the taste in my opinion.
