Hard to find Black IPA's. Makes a good balance between the acidity of the malt and hops. Overall a bitter beer that you can really taste the dark malts.

On tap at Claremont Craft Ales in Claremont, CA.

Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass the drink down. Smell is of malt, rye bread, chalk, and rubber tire aromas. Taste is much the same with spicy rye and burnt rubber flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty poor beer that has a distinct rubber tire aroma and flavor that is not pleasant whatsoever.

On-tap at Claremont Craft Ales

Dark brown in color with a khaki colored head. I get a bit of a body odor aroma up front followed by pine, grapefruit peel, rye, and molasses. There’s some roasted malt, a mild toffee sweetness, and a hint of coffee. The flavor is similar to the aroma, though lacking the body odor quality. Some pine bitterness, a moderate grapefruit, and roasted malt. A decent amount of rye, some sweet toffee, and a hint of molasses. Subtle chocolate and coffee flavors in the background as well.
