Small cool spot on the end of St Marks by tompkins square. Visited on a weekday night, was able to get a stool at the bar, a few people but not that busy. Nice aesthetic.

Small but varied and well curated tap list (about 12 taps), mix of imports and domestics. For me the real treat was finding Kuhnhenn Braggot. Also you can do tasters in a set of 4 I believe, so I sampled some local tri state offering (Carton, Barrier) that I wanted to try. Very generous with water - give you a 40oz bottle - I like this as I always like to balance my beer with a good amount of water.

Very low light level, not really a problem but I actually had to remove my glasses to read the list LOL - that made me feel old.

Also just a tad loud - not in a it bothered and I was solo so I wasn't trying to hold a conversation, but I had a little problem hearing all the details of what the bar tender was saying - he did seem very knowledge though.

Prices are not cheep but in line with what I would expect for EV/NYC.

Overall very worthy of stopping in. (1,037 characters)

Limited to 12 taps and some bottles, but of those, all are winners. Service is phenomenal -- knowledgeable and personal -- and you should definitely check out the beer cheese (with matzo, seriously, give it a try). My last visit, they had Mexican Cake, plus a host of excellent Brooklyn selections. Could've honestly sat there all night and ran through the full list without any complaints. (390 characters)

Great bar in the East Village. It's small with only a dozen or so seats but it feels great. The service is top notch with proactive pouring of water, attentive service and great beer knowledge. The selection is well curated with a reasonable mix of styles and high quality. Very easy place to like. (298 characters)

Great location and great vibe in a neighborhood full of things to do and some pretty good beers bars. St. Marks is always jumping and you would walk right past this joint if you weren't looking for it. Artwork and decor is very hip and East Village-like with good music playing and the feel of a local hangout spot. It's a small tight space with the bar taking up most of the place and a few tables. On the downside, the bathroom was tiny, stinky and close to my seat at the bar, and the place was really tight and not a big space at all, however that lends itself to the communal feeling and amped up beer geek aura; the crowd was into beer here and you could tell since it was crowded and mostly full for a Monday night. The way they set up the tap list is cool.

Very high quality of "rare, new and unusual beer" as stated on the website. Not many bottles were crossed off the list and the tap selection had 12 brews of varying styles including some I'd never heard of, which was nice. Place is not an IPA shop and had some gems on tap including Grassroots/Hill Farmstead Brother Soigne Saison and a few from Nogne O. I had 3 tap beers and 1 can (Other Half Superfun!) and all tasted like they came from clean lines and were poured into teku glasses...not sure why they only use teku, but they got the job done.

The bartender last night was excellent. He knew his beers on tap, could speak about all the different styles, give recommendations and you could tell he really loved beer in addition to being a nice guy. Attentive and not the type that waited for you to signal him, he came by to check in and see how we liked our beers halfway through them all. His professionalism added to the relaxed vibe and made us feel welcomed. He kept us hydrated and our water glasses full as well, which helped keep us sober.

Selection is excellent for stuff you don't find elsewhere. A bit pricey for the draft beers and some of the bottles were very expensive, but this is really a specialty beer bar that is on the exclusive side for the beer bar world. I had the Grassroots/Hill Farmstead Brother Soigne Saison, a Other Half Superfun! APA, a Cuzett Libations Grisette and a Port City Colossal Four Quad. For me it was a great night since getting anything by Hill Farmstead is rare and a treat, Other Half is a local hot brewer and this can really kicked ass, plus I got to try 2 new brewers whom I had never heard of and tried some styles I don't normally have. A great experience, I'm looking forward to going back to this place for another mid-week visit. (2,555 characters)

This place is pretty good. Its comically small for a bar. Staff is awesome and has always been down to earth and helpful.

Mixed bag when it comes to what's available on tap and bottles, usually they offer rarer and more unique brews. Good beer is right around the corner incase you strike out here. That's a place. Not a euphemism, "Good Beer" is a bottle shop around the corner.

I'd been wanting to try this place for sometime, but sadly I was disappointed with my experience.

First, rare beer on our bottle list that's awesome. I show up and order it. "Oh, I guess we must have sold the last one." Bummer. The recommendations to replace what I'd wanted originally were less than stellar. The orientation of the bar is super crowded on a Saturday night, with nowhere to move and nowhere to go. I understand its Saturday but this place is way too small, I know its NYC, but if its crowded, I would just turn around and go somewhere else.

Overall, the list is nice and selective but the atmosphere and space left something to be desired.

This place has potential but no space at all. (706 characters)

Lower East Side NYC, NY.

Slander covered the details of the room. I'll just add that its small, dark, sorta cramped and on the loud side...I imagine it can get very crowded. I visited at opening time, so no worries for me..

This is a place to get rare beers and to get great service. The bartender, started me out with some water (so smart for bars to pour their customers water, surprised so few do it unless asked) and asked what I liked and guided me to a few selections he thought made sense. Glad he did cuz at least 1/2 of the drafts and bottles were unknown to me. Great service, friendly and very knowledgeable.

About 12 on tap and about 25 bottles. Drafts were reasonably priced for the quality, rarity and location, but many of the bottles were out of my price range (multiple 330 ml bottles from Italy at over $25, some way over...)

I'd stick to the drafts (seems most people were doing just that) go right when they open, so you could get a seat and bring some beer friendly food in next time. (They have no food available, so you can bring what you want in) Would make for a great beer treat.... (1,113 characters)

A friend took me there while in town on business. Small and narrow but a great atmosphere. They have some great beers with 10 or so on tap but the overall numbers are low. I had a Victory Braumeister Pils and a Struise Pannepot Reserva. Well worth a visit. And just a short walk down the street is where they took the photo for Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti album cover. (373 characters)
